When Buying a new appliance check the date of manufacturer on the model and serial tag. If it isnt listed on the tag you can call the manufacturer with the serial number and they will should tell you. Sadly sometime appliances can spend a significant amount of time in a container or warehouse, and that new appliance could technically be several years old.

We called Mayland Appliance Repair after discussing the issue with our dishwasher with the technician, they got the correct part, came over and fixed the dishwa...sher in about 2 hours. They were courteous and friendly and most importantly fixed our issue and we now have a working dishwasher again. I would use them again for any other appliance issue we may have. See more

You are opening your Microwave Door Wrong! How many of us put food inside the microwave for X amount of time then open the door before the time ticks down to 0 to check if the item we are cooking is done? BAD!... Behind the door interlocks there are 3 to 4 (depending on model) to micro-switchs that are meant to keep the microwave generator (Magnatron) from ever being powered when the door is open. All micro-waves are designed with this fail safe system so that if two of these door switches fail the third will short out the fuse on the microwave, and prevent it from operating. This is for your safety! But why is it BAD to open the door when the Microwave is cooking? A microwave will typically draw between 12 and 14 amps when it is operating. That is a lot of current. When you open the microwave door while in operation the contacts inside these small safety switches arc and create heat causing carbon buildup on the switch contacts and the switches plastic housing to melt. Over time this leads to failed door switches. The majority of Microwave related Service calls involve these switches. They are relatively cheap and easy to replace, but simply by hitting the "stop" button on the control panel before opening the door you can save some serious wear and tear on your microwave, and a future Service Call.
