Shisha consumption dates back thousands of years and holds important cultural significance for many Edmontians. But, as of July 1, 2020, the City of Edmonton has banned shisha lounges from operating in the city. This will have a major impact on many Edmontonians, particularly those from cultural backgrounds where when people get together, they do so over shisha. The Edmonton Hookah Cultural Community is trying to work with the City of Edmonton to develop a process to reopen and address public safety concerns. Shisha is far more important to Edmonton's African and Arab communities to completely ban shisha lounges. But, we will need your support to make this happen.
