Huge thank you to everyone who made it out to the first Covid era MA seminar in the province ( ya I am claiming that one just for the hell of it lol ) started off with a striking mix from JKD/Muay Thai/ Boxing the into 35 count stick drill with a few disarms. Was great to see a few from other styles and teach such an excellent group. :)

On Sunday we will be running the first Covid era Martial Arts seminar (Filipino Martial Arts ) in the province at Woo Young TKD. Before we close out this page we got a few photos from our last seminar before Covid from Integrity M.A with our friend Jimmy Hall and Judo/Jujitsu instructor Terry MacFarlane an amazing bunch who are up training again. Backyard Budokai private lessons (adults only at this time) are going fantastic and the new Manimal Monsters kids program will not... be starting until October due to construction delays something that is happening all over due to Covid. M.S.G - Manimal Submission Grappling will be starting in September and will be geared towards those looking to learn submission grappling for overall Fitness, self-defense and MMA competition. Obviously we understand depending on what provincial regulations may be at that time however we are fully promoting this long-standing program as well as all the other amazing Martial Arts & Fitness classes taking place at this brand new facility.... With the news of gyms reopening ( with restrictions ) I have recieved emails regarding training. As posted below our Landlord is redeveloping our spot due to the Covid situation but our 35 year history will continue but just in different ways. First contact the MXT Halifax Facebook page if you are looking for any information on upcoming Brazilian Jiujitsu training. They will help you out and are an amazing group of students and instructors and will do great things here in t...he BJJ community. Club founder Ray McKinnon teaches at his Backyard Budokai, a private and semi private training "dojo" offering instruction in many different styles of martial arts and you will find information on this page or our Facebook group including rules and cost. Also Ray will be undergoing another MA teaching journey coming up but will give details in a month or two this will be geared solely for teens / kids. Also we are in the process of locking down a spot to continue a class with a mix of Jeet Kune Do/kickboxing/Jujitsu/Filipino arts in the Halifax area. Well apparently the word has gotten around so in full disclosure The Bushido Kai Academy is closed permanently. This was definitely not an easy decision and there are many factors involved with this. ... The most important one being is my landlord has decided to redevelop the building into something else besides a martial arts school. As well with the uncertainty of this virus and when it will be safe to fully open up again and to what capacity we will be able to train as well as the uncertainty of what fall flu season will bring its just become to much. The redevelopment of the building is the major factor. I could write a days worth of thank yous to all the students and all the instructors at our club for what they have done and accomplished as well as the martial arts history that our club has developed in this province but , Im just going to leave it at....every student and instructor has my utmost respect and continued friendship. Jack Cameron has been keeping the BJJ side of things going with invatations to Zoom as well as corresponding with the instructors in Brazil as the other Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructors are busy working jobs and dealing with their own personal things. Keep posted to the MXT group as to any announcements. Personally for me I will never stop teaching however it will be on a smaller scale than what we have been doing. Since we are all on lockdown or people are self isolating there has been no training but if you are interested in private lessons or semi-private lessons with myself, contact me directly. As for our kids program when everything is open up again and its 100% safe I will keep people informed on our kids Bushido Kai Facebook page as to where the kids program may start up again.
