. Purple is the color for Alzheimer's and Dementia Awareness I am asking everyone to put this on their page... I am pretty sure I know the ones who will. Think of someone you know or love who had or has Alzheimer's or Dementia. This is personal for me. Borrowed - this affects do many lives! Thanks

Hello Earthlings, A couple of things on Earth Day. I copied this to post as it is very relavant at this time for me. Please read and help out if you can.... Hey friends, as most of you know I work as an Infection Control RN at NRGH. The staff at the hospital (and Health Units, and generally just all healthcare staff) are exhausted right now, and could really use some encouragement from our community. I’m putting out an ask for anyone who might be interested in donating *individually wrapped* food items (for COVID safety protocols) to the NRGH staff, or even just some written kind words of encouragement as we trudge through the most challenging part of this pandemic thus far. I will also add, that if you know a healthcare worker, check in with them and listen to their stories. If you feel called, please call NRGH to arrange a way to donate to the staff! As I lay aout getting 3 meals a day brought to my bedside - see and sense what all of the health care workers are going thru. From the cleaning staff to the surgeons, EVERYONE, is putting in an extra effort, during these trying times. The extra precautions that they are all taking, while wearing extra PPEs is amazing to see. I can get behind the mandatory masks, but for most ridicoulous thing to see is everyone going about their jobs, while forced to wear face shields or goggles! Only if dealing with patients who might have bodily fluids flying about, should this barrier of plastic be required. I am with Dr. Bon Bon on most things, BUT not this one. I see it daily, the extra kind words to a confused dementia patient, or just taking a few moments to talk with a patient about their situation. They really don't have the time, but rather take a shorter break or lunch time. I would like to thank all of the staff at NRGH! I would encourage all of you to donate if possible to this cause. At the roadside Veggie stand there are still some fir seedlings available, by donation - $2 minimum is suggested. It is Earth Day and it is hoped that people will pick uo a tree and plant it in memory of a loved one who has passed away. You could also plant a tree in honour of a child who has been born recently. You could alsi pick up 1 or 2 and plant them for Earth Day and the oxygen that they produce. Then, 40 or 50 years from now this tree might produce wood for someone's project. It is a wise person, who plants a tree, knowing full well that you may never get a chance to sit in it's shade. Have a safe Earth Day. Thanks, Murray McNab & Family

Everyone says: "If you need anything, don't hesitate, I'll be there for you ". I'm going to make a bet, without being pessimistic, that out of my family and friends less than 7 will take the time to put this on their wall to help raise awareness of mental health difficulties. So surprise me and prove me wrong!!! Always listen carefully sometimes there are no signs #WhoAreMySeven

Hello everyone, Spring is certainaly here, the frogs are croaking, birds chirping and the evenings are becoming warmer. With that in mind, how about planting a tree, in memory of a loved one, who has passed away or a baby that has been born.... Starting tomorrow, 2 types of fir trees(Douglas & Noble) will be at our roadside Veggie Stand. These trees are in 1 gallon pots and can be purchased, by donation, with proceeds going to a local charity. The suggested minimum donation is $2. Both types of fir trees like rich well drained soil. This is Ross's fundraising idea and he has asked if you would please return the 1 gallon pots along with any others that you may have. I hope to get small packets of seeds out, by next weekend. I am currently resting in NRGH, having just consumed a delicious meal, following hip replacement surgery. I hope to be back in the game, with considerably less pain, asap. Thank you

Good Afternoon, As you may or may not know, Earth Day is coming up on April 22nd. This year my brother Ross has several hundred fir trees in 1 gallon pots, to be sold by donation, on April 22nd, at our road side Veggie Stand.... Suggested donation is $2, but more is always welcome, as all proceeds are going to charity. It is hoped that you might pick up a tree and plant it in memory of a loved one who has passed away. You might want to plant a tree for someone who was born recently. I will try to have some simple instructions on how and where to plant these trees, but as my late mother used to say about B.C. if you plant it, it will grow. I suspect that those sentiments came from being born and raised in Kansas, during the grasshopper and dust bowl years, before moving to Ontario. Also, sister in law Jane, has a small library set up at the west end of the road side Veggie Stand. Please feel free to stop and pick up a book or leave a book behind, for someone else to enjoy. Please stay healthy and happy. Thanks, Murray

If you are not working/not getting a paycheck/struggling to make ends meet and run out of food or necessities...please don’t let yourself or your kids go to sleep with an empty stomach. Christmas is approaching fast and if you need help, please don’t be afraid or embarrassed to message me. I will drop groceries at your door and go. No one will ever know and I will pretend it never happened. Everyone has been in a tough position at some point in their life, especially me. It doesn’t define you. #JoinTheCause #CopyAndPasteIfYouCanAndAreWilling

I’m sharing this on behalf of Mike Fall and he has said to share it with anyone. He says to share with everyone by email Facebook or any means necessary. To: everyone who may now or in the future depend on the South Cassidy aquifer for their water: I am spearheading a movement to have Schnitzer Canada moved off the South Cassidy Aquifer.... I will get the ball rolling but will be looking for someone younger to take over at a later date. I have been in contact with West Coast Environmental Law and they are willing to support us. Step #1 is to form a group of local and other citizens that support this initiative. I am proposing a name for the group: Save South Cassidy Aquifer If you would like to join this group please send an email to; [email protected] All emails will be sent as blind copies in order to protect the privacy of your email address. Thanking you in advance; Mike Fall

I know about addiction far too well for it has impacted my life and that of my family and friends. My biggest pet peeve is when people say "you had a perfect life, how could you mess it up like this over alcohol or drugs" or "if you want help you should just ask" or "We've already been down this road before and that it didn't work last time..." addiction literally consumes your soul and it's all you can think about! No one wakes up one day and says I want to be an alcoholic,o...r addicted to heroin, cocaine, opiates,or meth for the rest of my life... So today more than ever, I pray for the healing of addiction for all that are still struggling. There's a personal reason for asking everyone to put this message on their status for at least 1 hour. I know who'll do it! Think of someone you love who has had an addiction or who is trying to fight this evil whether winning or losing. I hope to see continuous efforts towards recovery & this status on all of my friend's walls. Don't share, please, copy and paste. #wedorecoverchallengePlease take the time to read. Thanks See more

After chemo treatment, it's true that it can take years until you feel alive again... with side effects of chemo and radiation you will never be 100 % because your immune system is weak. Ruins marriages, family and friends. Because you're not the same again after cancer and treatments. In the hardest moments you know who your real friends are or people who appreciate you. Unfortunately, like most friendships, fb friends will leave you in the middle of a story. They want to p...ost a like for the story, but they don't really read your message when they see it is far. More than half have stopped reading. Someone may have already gone to the next post in newsfeed. I have decided to publish this post in support of close family, friends, relatives who have fought this horrible disease. Now I'm focusing on those who take the time to read this post to the end... a little test, if you want, just to see who reads and who shares without reading. Cancer is a very aggressive and destructive enemy of our bodies. Even after treatment, the body is devastated, even in an attempt to restore the damage caused by treatment to fight the nastation. It's a very long process. I would like to know who I can count on and who takes the time and reads this. When you finish this, write done in the comments. Sadly we are facing the illness of the century and I'm going to share the next thing, because I'm living a very direct case in my family. Unlike others, this little petition will not have the effect of removing friends from my list. As I have a personal interest, for the effects of cancer I want to see who reads and shares without reading! If you've read everything, select like so I can put a thank you on your profile. I know 97 % of y'all don't broadcast it but my friends will be the 3 % who will. Please in honor of someone who died, or is battling cancer. Everyone says if you need anything, don't hesitate, I'll be there for you ", then I'm going to make a bet, without being pessimistic, I know my family and friends will put it on their wall. You just have to copy (not share)!!! I want to know who I can count on... type done in the comments when you do. It's awareness month for this disease, I did it for someone very special!! We all know someone who stood before us, and who is fighting this battle.... See more

Good Morning Everyone. Just a quick note to say that, we are now recommending, that all persons, riding on the hayride wagons wear a mask. This us the result of the latest speech by Dr. BON BON! As with the good doctors latest decree, this is only a recommendation and persons can still ride on the hayride wagons, without a mask!... This will be my last post until, Nov. 1st, for reasons that will become evident, soon. The roadside parking warriors, seemed to have calmed down, for now! Even the VIVIDIOTS, have backed off, wirh the Donald spewing more gibberish. Flat earth people, still clinging onto the rim. Anti-vaxers, bikini waxers and anthraxers, all relatively calm. Just the whinging, of 1 neighbour, to deal with - he may have just picked up a bit of what we call, Fletchitis! Thank you all so much, to all of our visitors, you have nade ut another successful year, during these trying times. A special thank you to members of the F N community, who helped us, with planting, the almost 15 thousand pumpkin plants. Also a big thank you to the great attendance from the Chemainus FN Band. I am very sorry for not using the correct spelling of these 2 FN, Bands, I will look this up and promise to do better in the future. Thank you, Murray McNab Family and Staff

Good Morning All. It looks like another stellar day coming for us at the Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch! PARKING - just another reminder to all of you who drive over to visit the Farm : please realize that the way that you park, can influence, parking and public safety, for the rest of the day!... First - we have parking spots, on the maze side of Yellow Point Rd. Please check to see if there is a vacant spot available here, before you go to park in the field, directly behind the large, MCNAB, CORN MAZE sigh. Second - ir number one seems to be full, PLEASE, park in the field, directly behind the large MCNAB'S CORN MAZE sign. Third - if you choose to park, beside Yellow Point Rd, PLEASE, Ensure thar your vehicle, is at least 60cm or 2 feet away from the existing, Edge of Pavement! This would be a distance, as measured, by a real tale ! This IS NOT, based on what some one, has previously told you is 8 inches! Here at MCM, we live in a real Spherical World! After parking, PLEASE be very careful as you exit your vehicles and PLEASE ensure that a big person, has a firm hold on the hand of each and every small person, who exits your vehicle. PLEASE, REMEMBER that the little ones may be very excited and dart out from between the parked cars, directly in front of a motorist, eho is just trying to use this public road Thanks for visiting, but we just want EVERY ONE, to go home safely, with or with out s pumpkin, but always, eith a good memory. Thank you. Please spread thd word. Murray McNab. 250 739- 2063

Good Morning. Well that was a touch of rain yesterday! The heavy rain emphasised, the problem of using an online ticket sales company! In our case we are using Showpass, out of Alberta. We use them, as they can monitor the number of tickets sold in each 1 hour block.... Please don't panic, ticket buyers, az it is assumed that the average stay will be 2 hours. For this service, Showpass, charges us 6% and has a No Refund policy. As you might well imagine, this creates some angst, when tickets have benn purchased weeks ago, and it is pouring rain, on your day! We will gladly honour your ticket(s) on any week day, until Halloween. The 2 exceptions are, today, Thanksgiving and Oct. 23rd, Pro D day. We will send you a refund of your ticket price, minus the 6%, if you are from out of town and can not come to see us on a week day. We have a huge selection of pumpkins, both in our main field and on palettes. The pumpkins on the palettes, have been moved from 5 other fields, that are not suitable for u-Pick. The Maze is now muddy and will not likely dry out again this year. Even on sunny days, the narrow paths do not allow the sun to dry the soil. Back to addmission ticket sales, online sales are sort of like reservations, for BC Ferries, they assure you entrance at the time on your ticket. I hate to compare anything that we do to one of the more useless crown corporations, that we have! Did someone just shout out ICBC, I hear you. I cringe every time I hear an ad for BC Ferries Holidays. This company is clearly trying to take the motto away from Air Canada, which is - We're not happy, until you're not happy! Then we have the pair of Space Cadets - both of which have been affected by their time away from earth! The lady in Ottawa, can't seem to spend enough money on Stuff, while shirking many of her official responsibilities. Our man, the Minister of Transportation, has nothing better to do then change the rule that allowed passengers on BC Ferries to remain in their vehicles. This rule made perfect sense during the first phase of the COVID Pandemic. Now with Phase 2 clearly sweeping across the country, he pulls this Horse Hockey! Come on!!! That's enough if my drivel for now. We look forward to seeing you at the Maze and or Pumpkin Patch. Until then , keep yout powder dry and your candles close at hand. Thank you, Murray, Betty and Staff.
