My newest piece is a commentary on resettlement. Here you see an old man looking over his small community with its fish plant stages and boats dragged up on dr...y land. No smoke is coming from the chimneys and the sky is grey and dismal. On the lookout the sign reads: Resettled: You Can’t Stay Here. Many people were forced to move away from communities they lived in and loved their entire lives, and I can’t help but think how devastating and isolating it must have felt to pack up everything and say goodbye to where so much of their hearts were. I enjoyed making this piece and while it is mainly alcohol markers, you can see white highlights on the lettering and the man, done with a white jelly roll pen.
