Do you know someone who plans to study post-secondary in an agricultural field? (no pun intended!) Tell them about this scholarship opportunity! The program was launched by a committee formed by council, staff and members of the 2010 Elgin IPM to award a county female and male student a $2,500 grant each to assist them in their agriculturally-related studies in college or university.

As we mentioned in our previous post about storytime on CHPD 105.9 De Brigj Radio, MCS staff are finding new ways to provide services during the lockdown. Here, FESPA Program Manager Netti Wall is ready at the Aylmer Resource Centre with care kits for contactless pick-up for our FESPA School students. Our FESPA staff are creatively putting together a new kit each week. Last's week's kit included activities for the preschoolers, and some baked oatmeal cookies for the whole fam...ily. The children's activities included colouring pages and a fun fine-motor skill activity (threading felt squares over a button onto a ribbon). We look forward to the time when we can meet in person again, but we're glad to send these kits home to our FESPA students and their preschoolers in the meantime.

MCS Front Desk Staff Diana is recording children's stories in English at our radio station CHPD 105.9 De Brigj! Storytime will air at 11am on Tuesdays & Thursdays, and at 2:45pm on Saturdays and Sundays during our children's hour. Children can listen in at home with their families and practice their English listening & comprehension skills in a fun way!... Because our FESPA School program is not able to meet in person during the lockdown, this is one way to help serve the children who would normally attend our preschool readiness program. #LowGerman #Plautdietsch #EnglishLanguage #Canada #faithfullylinkingresourceswithneeds #AylmerON #smalltownbigheart

Congratulations Eva! Eva Klassen De Wall has waited a very long time to become a Canadian citizen. She came to Canada in the 1980s, became a permanent resident, and raised her family here with her husband who is a Canadian citizen. MCS settlement staff assisted Eva in navigating the steps required to become a citizen. ... There were additional delays, due to COVID-19. But, now, finally, Eva has obtained her Canadian citizenship! MCS helped Eva log on to the online citizenship ceremony. Pictured are, from left, MCS Settlement Services worker Sue Thiessen, IRCC Citizenship Official Amy Arthur (on the screen), and Eva. Eva is very grateful! She says she now feels that she is finally home and not just a visitor in the place where she and her family call home. #immigrationmatters #mycitizenship #mcson #AylmerON #buildingcommunity #faithfullylinkingresourceswithneeds
