With the time change this past weekend, it’s also time to replace the batteries in your smoke alarms. These devices SAVE LIVES. Take a couple minutes to test your alarms, replace if older than 10 years old, and replace the batteries to give your family the best chance to get out early.
Thank you to Morden Fire & Rescue for hosting and training our new recruit Chad!
FIGHTING FIRE WITH FIRE When the conditions call for it, sometimes the best way to attack a fire is to fight it with more fire. With strong winds continuing to feed a fire from the morning, our best plan of attack was to intentionally light a new fire ahead of the original fire. With the wind in our favour, our fire back burns and meets up with the original one. At this point, there is no fuel left for the original fire to consume, so we get to go home
From a different perspective.

Thanksgiving Round #2
Bit more fire today.
Happy Thanksgiving right now from everyone at Miami Fire and Rescue
Sunday, October 4th to Saturday, October 20th is Fire Prevention Week! This years theme is Serve up Fire Safety in the Kitchen. Cooking is the leading cause of fires in the home and Thanksgiving is the leading day for fires in the home. ... With Thanksgiving approaching, be mindful of stovetop cooking. Never leave active stove tops unattended, have lids nearby, and keep anything that can catch fire away from the area. While Thanksgiving will be a bit different this year, let’s all do our part to keep fire out of our homes and to keep everybody safe
A recent training night consisted of securing an unstable vehicle and practicing extrication out of a damaged vehicle. There is no perfect solution to guarantee success in every scenario. Different techniques yield different results and that’s what makes our training so valuable. Pics by Roy Bridgeman
Due to the limited number of first responders available on the department and due to summer holidays, etc, the Miami First Responders will be out of service until August 5th, 2020. Miami Fire is still on call and available to respond to fire calls
