SUMMER / FALL OUTDOOR KIDS RUGBY Happy to share that we are staring up our outdoor rugby program Mon Aug 17 @ Sherwood Forest! Ages will be U8, U10, U12 and U14: 6:00PM 7:00PM Mon + Wed thru August and September, ending mid-October as weather permits. Fee: $99 - no kit or festivals for 2020... Online health attestation for each participant before every session + onsite check-in will be a part of the program, along with post session clean-up in keeping with COVID-related guidelines. The program (Stage 2) will include socially distanced drills (2m) and allow for ball passing between participants. I hope this finds you all well! Just a FB follow-up to the email I have sent out. I wanted to send you all an overdue update on the state of mini rugby at the club amid this pandemic crisis. As you may have seen, we have been working through guidance on ‘return-to-play’ from Rugby Ontario and Rugby Canada. We do plan to provide some type of rugby programming, as soon as we can and as safely as possible, based on the guidance and protocols at hand. A significant challenge will... be that initial guidance on gradual re-opening, once allowed, starts with VERY limited and socially distanced activities only. In short, we are planning to start programming when restrictions ease enough to do so safely, but also when we can offer enough interaction to interest our players and families. In this ever evolving situation, guidance will continue to evolve. I have been encouraged by recent guidance from SickKids on school reopening and hope this factors into protocols into the summer and fall for children’s sports. While the region of Halton is currently advising that the overall risk relating to the COVID-19 outbreak remains low, the rapidly evolving situation suggests an abundance of caution is warranted in the interest of our overall community. To that end, we have elected to cancel Winter Rugby sessions for Mar 13 + Mar 21 As rugby players and supporters, we are often the first to suggest we tough things out and play on. 2020 REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! Thanks again to all of you who joined us for making our Winter Program so successful! As we enter the last month, we are very pleased to let you know that registration for our Summer Program is now open! We hope you will join us from May to August for even more rugby, events and good times through out with the Burlington Centaurs at Sherwood Forest! BCRFC - PROGRAM DETAILS... Training Days: - Minis: Mon + Wed 600PM - 700PM - Juniors (u16+): Tue + Thu 600PM - 700PM Program Length: - May to August (Minis extends into Sept, once per week) Games: - Minis - Scheduled festival-style events on Saturdays or Sunday through the summer (see schedule below) - Juniors - home / away structured league play (schedules TBD by Rugby Ontario) Kit: - Training shirts only for Super-minis; All other ages for minis and juniors include training-shirt, shorts and socks. Skills: - Super Mini and U8 programs are exclusively non contact and revolve around the flag based game and introduction to the overall game of rugby. - The U10 program builds upon this and includes both a flag based stream as well as an "Introduction-to-Contact" stream (optional for players 9 and older), focused on developing safe contact skills and introduction to the wider and more mature game. Players train together and will segment for contact training when needed. - U12 and U14 continue overall skill and contact development, instructing on the more complex laws of the game as they are added, ensuring safe contact and additional game skills. - Junior U16 includes graduated full union play and skill development, building towards the near mature game at the U18 level. Fees: All fees include uniform as per above, Rugby Ontario and Rugby Canada fees.
