What’s it like to work with an organizer? A little before and after in words.
Three things you should know about working with me. 1 No judgment. I’ve seen a lot of different setups. No one setup will be right for everyone. Every family, family member, home and space is different and each deserves careful consideration. I won’t judge your existing setup, but I will look at it with fresh eyes and help build a system and setup that will have your home and days flowing with more ease. 2 Laughter. I love to laugh! Who doesn’t? I try not to take my...self too seriously. You want to have a laugh, perhaps even at my expense? I’m all for it! Let’s laugh while we work. 3 Dancin’. Although I am far from what anyone would call a good dancer, after we get to know one another and if there are tunes playing while we declutter, sort and organize, I may not be able to help myself. Just a heads up. Need help getting your home decluttered and organized? Reach out. Send me a message. We’ll schedule a chat. See more
Gifts. There are countless occasions it seems for which we find ourselves scrambling for gift ideas. When gift giving, my goal is to let the recipient know I’m thinking of them but not add clutter to their home. Do you have gift ideas other than those listed below that wouldn’t contribute to clutter? Do you have any favourite clutter-free teacher gift ideas? If so, please share! Cash Clothing, shoes, slippers Books... Consumables: baked goods; candy/chocolate; favourite coffee or tea; fruit basket/arrangement; wine/craft beer; candle; favourite hand cream (or hand sanitizer ) Gift cards or certificates for: gas/car wash/car detailing; a favourite local coffee shop; restaurant; ice cream shop; pizza place or bakery; favourite local garden centre or local store; professional organizing services (!) Homemade gift certificate offering (your priceless) time: babysitting; helping with a household repair; prepping a favourite dinner; teaching how to photograph (or another skill) or how to make your famous dish/meal/dessert When we get back to some sort of normal, gift cards or certificates to use at a local: bowling alley; movie theatre; driving range/golf course; season’s pass for entrance to a conversation area; manicure/pedicure; trampoline park. Three daily habits to help keep your home tidy (and make you want to high-five yourself in the mirror). Keep the dishes down to a dull roar. Tend to them after each meal and snack. Throw in at least one load of laundry each day. But don’t forget to get the load put away by the end of the day.... I know. I know. You hear it all the time but it really is magical. Make your bed! BONUS TIP Wipe it now or scrub it later. If you see a spill or mess, clean it up sooner rather than later. You’ll save yourself elbow grease if you clean up while a spill is fresh.
Is there right and wrong when it comes to home organizing? In my opinion, the short answer is, Nope. For example: If your kids brush their teeth after breakfast in the powder room close to the kitchen and the powder room has a pedestal sink offering no storage, why not carve out a little space in a kitchen drawer or on a kitchen shelf to house a set of the kids’ toothbrushes and toothpaste? Many of us aren’t running out the door in the morning right now, but we will be able to leave our homes regularly again at some point. Whatever works for your family and saves precious minutes is what’s right.
These handy wall mount organizers by @idlivesimply are quickly becoming a favourite. If you’re like me (a little extra when it comes to visual clutter), you might feel the same way. I was tired of seeing bits and bobs (eye glasses, pens, etc.) on the kitchen counter. I affixed a small peel & stick organizer on the inside of a cabinet door. Wising you a cozy, joyful simplified new year. Happy 2021!
It’s been a year. But we’re still standing. What does that tell us? It tells us that we’re strong. We’re stronger and more resilient than we were a year ago. I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I wish you joy, time to pause and reflect, simplicity and calm. Enjoy your time with loved ones either in person or by screen. The restrictions under which we’ve been living will make those in-person hugs when we’re finally able to have them all the more cherished.... Very best wishes to you all.
Affordable. No line-ups. No delivery charges. Not the greatest idea for those gift lovers in your life but for those budding minimalists or quality time love language folks on your list, this present is perfect! #calmmind #clutterfree #contain #christmas2020gifts #declutter #homeorganization #minimalism #organizedhome #organizedlife #organizedmom #organizedholidays #proorganizer #professionalorganizer #simplify #minimalmatterspo
Houston, we have a (shopping) problem. Ever wonder if it’s really necessary to take out everything of one thing (clothing, shoes, kitchen utensils, etc.) when preparing to declutter and organize? I can tell you, It’s necessary. Thanks to a great idea by Courtney of Organisée, I purchased an acrylic nail polish holder to display and store my essential oils. I had my bottles in three separate cases. I knew exactly where the oils I used regularly were located, but I wasn...’t able to see just how many bottles I had in total. I’m not very minimal when it comes to oils apparently. Now that my oils are in one spot, I realize where my money has been going and that I need to use what I have before ordering more. Decluttering is a marathon, not a sprint. Any chunk of time even 10 or 15 minutes you’re able to find to declutter a drawer or cabinet or space will move the needle, even if you can’t see the needle moving in the moment. (To help with seeing the needle move, take a before picture, set a timer and take an after picture. You’ll be impressed by how much you’re able to accomplish in a short amount of time.) After months and months of my decluttering, my husband is seein...g the benefits and is now working on decluttering his items in the basement and in the garage (without my asking him to do so). If you want to declutter but don’t know where or how to start, please don’t be ashamed to ask for help. Ask a friend, parent, sibling or cousin for their input and suggestions. Or hire help if doing so is in the budget. I or an organizer of your choice would be more than happy to guide and support you to finding some white space in your cupboards, cabinets, drawers and rooms. And thanks to technology, we can help without physically being in your home. Baby steps add up. You got this! #aplaceforeverything #caledon #calmmind #clutterfree #contain #declutter #homeorganization #marathonnotsprint #movetheneedle #organizedhome #organizedlife #organizedmom #organizingtips #proorganizer #professionalorganizer #reorganize #simplify #torontoorganizer #virtualorganization #virtualorganizing #yyzbusiness #yyzprofessionalorganizer #minimalmatterspo See more
