Emergency Preparedness Week (May 2-8, 2021) encourages Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies. This special week is a national effort of provincial and territorial emergency management organizations, and Public Safety Canada.

Hey Minto! Don't you just love the smell of a real Christmas Tree? We're sending a friendly reminder to our fellow Christmas Treet lovers that keeping it well watered is essential for home fire safety!... A dry Christmas tree can pose a serious fire hazard. The tree and leaves contain highly-flammable oil that can spontaneously combust. Other fire triggers include wood-burning stoves, candles or short circuits in cheap Christmas lights.

Now that all 3 drive by Santa events are over, we want to send a huge shout out and thank you to Dobson's in Palmerston for the use of their truck to transport Santa around all three towns! You guys rock and we very much appreciate it!

In memory of Captain Peter Henderson for his years of devotion and dedication to not only Minto Fire but also the Annual Palmerston Santa Claus Parade. Our Parade Marshall for this year is flying high over us tonight. We miss you Pete.

With all of the snow coming down today, we though it would be a great day to share some tips to help you prepare for safe driving in the snow! Plan your journey carefully & keep an eye on the local weather reports. Allow more time than you would usually give yourself & make sure all the snow is clear from your vehicle. It is actually against the law to drive with snow on your car.... Carry a lock de-icer with you to clear your locks or an extra battery for your key FOB Make sure any auto wiper control is switched off before turning the ignition on. If they are frozen to the screen the control fuse will blow. Use a good windshield washer fluid that protects down to at least -35C to prevent the water from freezing.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

REMINDER Please be advised that all Westario Power customers in Harriston will experieince a planned power outage tonight at 10 pm. Westario crews will make every effort to minimize the duration which is scheduled for a duration of up to eight hours.
