I have heard some feedback about the newsletter I sent out addressing COVID-19 pandemic. Printing and mailing timelines are often rather slow. This newsletter was sent to print in early fall when our active cases were below 2,000, but was only delivered to mailboxes this week. There is no denying that Alberta's case count is now sharply rising, especially in communities such as Banff. Of course, everyone must rigorously follow public health guidelines at this critical mom...ent. I have been clear about this with constituents, and will continue to provide updates as this pandemic wears on. This is the greatest challenge of our time, and by working together, we can stop the spread. Our province can't afford to lose any more lives, businesses, livelihoods, or dreams. As we head into the Christmas season, people need hope now more than ever. There are three vaccine candidates hoping to have a viable product to market by the new year, which sounds promising. Until then, if we continue to work together and remain optimistic, we will get through these tough days and ensure that Alberta's best days are yet to come. Our government will continue taking the best scientific advice from medical experts, including Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw, as we endeavor to a safe and healthy future.

Cross-country ski grooming is back in Kananaskis! After months of meetings with ski groups, trail associations, small rental equipment businesses and ski hills, I was happy to join Minister Jason Nixon and Nordiq Alberta to announce a new partnership between government and civil society that will ensure our beloved XC ski trails remain groomed for the 2020 season. Together we will be divesting the cost responsibility off of the general taxpayer and onto the user with a $10/...day pass that can be purcashed at the trail heads, local businesses, or www.kananaskisgrooming.ca . We ALSO announced a $15 million investment into Kananaskis Country. This investment will upgrade our amazing hiking trails, improve the Barrier Lake recreation area, and rebuild the William Watson Lodge. Today is a big day for us outdoor enthusiasts! ... now we just need a little snow.

It has now been well over a year since our Government committed $25 million towards wildlife fencing and an overpass outside Canmore, so I rose in Question Period this week to ask for an update on the project. I am excited to report that construction is set to begin in 2021! It was just weeks ago that five more poor elk were killed in another tragic vehicle collision on the TransCanada. Fortunately no human lives were taken this time, but these accidents serve as a sober re...minder to the need for infrastructure that can protect all creatures travelling this corridor, whether they be two-legged or four-legged. Some of you have reached out to me to inquire about the possibility of high visibility signage in the meantime, so I also took the opportunity to ask about that.

We will not be locking down. "All sorts of voices sing the one tune. It is time. Lockdown. Lockdown now. Lockdown for a month. Kenney is said to see a lockdown as the end of the line, the last resort, the lever marked When All Else Fails. ... And here's a Kenney nugget: "We're not going to turn Alberta into a police state."

No more kids being sent home from school for runny noses! Common sense policy decisions are key as we continue to reopen Alberta's economy. Parents shouldn't need to quarantine from work because their kids get a sniffle.

Hiked Rummel Lake. Ended up in Antarctica. Never truly found the lake.... But I bought this neon pink jacket for $10 in the Walmart kids section and I'm very excited about it! I'm even "fiscally conservative" in my personal life.

These numbers speak for themselves: We have increased the healthcare budget by over $700 million this year to its highest level in history -$20.9 billion. Shockingly, every tax dollar collected in Alberta on an annual basis cannot even afford our province's healthcare and education budgets in entirety, which shows how highly funded these departments are. ... This fact alone also indicates how critical it is for our Government to find efficiencies so that existing dollars can be diverted directly to the front lines of healthcare delivery. We don't need more dollars, we need a better system.

Prompt Pay legislation is something I've been advocating for since being elected, and I am thrilled to see this vision become a reality as part of Alberta's Economic Recovery Plan. Contractors going unpaid for months after completing their labour and incurring sunk material costs has been a longstanding barrier to prosperity for many in our province, hindering their ability to take on additional work. This Bill will set a 28 day deadline for contractors to make their payments and extend the time contractors have to file liens if they are not paid on time!

If you've been considering a move into Springbank, now is your chance! 10 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, 6 garages, a cigar room, a movie theater, a basketball court, and an elevator could be yours.

This is BIG step forward. International travellers entering Alberta will no longer need to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. They will receive a rapid test upon entry, and once the result is returned negative will be free to leave their place of quarantine with a commitment to get a secondary test one week later. This pilot project is a joint venture between our Provincial Government and the Federal Government, making Alberta the only place in Canada with such eased entr...ance requirements! Our Government has worked hard to reopen Alberta's economy quicker and wider than most places in North America, and we will continue to keep doing just that.

This is the absolute epitome of pathetic journalism. I made a heartfelt post about cyber bullying and the level of discourse in our society, with honest intentions of encouraging society to behave better. CBC chose to report that the email I shared was only purported, as if it may have somehow been fabricated, and as if politicians seemingly deserve to be denigated and sworn at. That right there justifies the post that I made. ... Let me be clear: The Federal Government is not creating literal concentration camps. I come from Jewish lineage. I had family members who spent time at the Kananaskis PoW camp. I would never make a mockery of concentration camps, and my comment reaffirming that our Provincial government was not establishing quarantine facilities was not intended to peddle conspiracy theories about legitimate concentration camps. It was meant to clear the air with a concerned constituent. I did not once even say the words "concentration camp".

** Warning: graphic language below, although I have blacked it out for you. I share this post not to whine, nor receive pity, nor sympathetic flattery. I don't need any of that. I chose to run for politics, and I knew what I was signing up for. I share this post because it's time a larger societal conversation was had around the state of our civil discourse. Partisan politics have divided us, and society has become toxic. People have entirely normalized the bullying, h...Continue reading

Excited to announce that our Government will be investing $9.5 million for flood mitigation across the Bow Valley! This comes as part of our Economic Recovery Plan, which includes a record breaking $10 billion investment for economy-growing infrastructure. Steep mountain creeks often put our communities at unpredictable and sudden risk flooding. This $9.5 million investment for flood mitigation along Jura Creek, Pigeon Creek, Harvie Heights Creek, Heart Creek, Stone Creek, and Stonewaters Creek will ensure our homes and businesses remain safe in the event of future flooding.

Happy to be back in Edmonton for the Fall sitting of the Legislature! Our Government has already sat more days and passed more Bills than every other government in Canada this past year.. and starting today, we are back at it. You've got our promise that we will put in as many hours as it takes to get our province back on track, even if that means we spend nine months of the year at the Legislature from sun up til sun down and straight through a global pandemic.

Great news today for our natural gas producers! This $2.3 billion, 344 km expansion will help us get our resources to the American market while contributing thousands of jobs and over $1.2 billion of economic activity to our province. Despite delays, it is also nice to see the Federal Government approve this project based on its merits rather than play typical politics with it. That alone is a win for Alberta! "[Seamus O'Regan] said the decision to approve the expansion with 35 conditions was based on facts, science."

"The media blare out the fact that new cases are up 25% from the height of the pandemic, but ignore the fact that testing is up 800%. This is a lie by omission. It’s alarmism."
