It is with regret that we inform you of the recent passing of Police Service Dog Max #1539. Joining the Calgary Police Service in 2013, Max served as both a pa...trol dog and in drug detection. Max always ensured the safety of his partner, fellow CPS members, and the community, during high-risk and often dangerous incidents. His proficiency as a Drug Detection Dog was certainly his best strength as a working dog, being recognized during the 2018 Canadian Police Canine Championships, where he placed first nationally in two categories. Max was an extremely social and affectionate German Shepherd who loved to meet everyone. After nearly seven years serving Calgarians, he was set to retire next month. Max, who was in his ninth year, will be greatly missed by those that knew him, especially his partner and his family. #yyc
