MoEML is very pleased to welcome Loran Scholar Maya Linsley to the team. Ms. Linsley did an internship with MoEML in the autumn through UVic's HUMA 295 course (taught by Associate Dean Dr. Alexandra D'Arcy and TA Michael Carelse). She'll be working on our edition of the 1633 Survey of London, tagging entities, checking the transcription, and adding encyclopedia entries for people and places not yet in the MoEML system. Welcome Maya!
Congratulations to MoEML's long-time Junior Programmer, Tracey El Hajj, who today brilliantly defended her game-changing dissertation on "Tactical Network Sonification" for UVic English. Her supervisor, Dr. Jentery Sayers writes that "If you're conducting research in sound studies, critical algorithm studies, and/or infrastructure studies, then look for Dr. El Hajj's work on listening to networks. It's a field-changer!" Congratulations Dr. El Hajj!
MoEML has a handy glossary of terms and phrases that carry specific meaning in the context of early modern London. https://mapoflondon.uvic.ca/GLOSS1.htm
