When I was little, I ran a prominent radio station in my basement with my corded phone, cassette player, and my stuffed toy audience. Been bossin’ it up since 1987. For real though, I remember watching all the rom-com movies in the 1990s, you know, the ones like You've Got Mail and Notting Hill, (2 of my favorite movies of all time). ... I would lock myself in my room and pretend to work at a radio station, making calls, taking notes, and getting the biggest scoops. Little did I know what the future had in store for me. Once a public servant, always a public servant. Serving my country has always been my passion and I loved being in a dynamic workplace. It was a tough decision to refocus my energy on my business. I am not one of those coaches that hates their job or wants an escape route. I love my job, but just want to have more freedom to be with my family and raise my babies. The cool thing is...I still get to help those around me (in my country but really anywhere) and use that pass...ion through my coaching! If you only have a few minutes... Take 3 deep breaths: breathe in deeply, filling your lungs with air, then breathe out completely. Do some stretches: extend your arms above your head, roll your shoulders, stretch your legs.... Practice an express relaxation technique: tighten all the muscles in your body, then release. Repeat 3 times. Get up from your workstation to stretch your legs. Take the opportunity to go see a colleague or to get some fresh water. Think of a word that calms you down and repeat that word to yourself when a stressful moment arises. Look in your head for a mental image which appeals to you and which soothes you; close your eyes and see her again to relax. Take a deep breath.

When we toasted the new year last January, it’s safe to say none of us imagined we’d spend most of the year stuck indoors, avoiding a global pandemic. But 2020 was full of surprises, and we all had to figure out how to adapt pretty quickly. We became obsessed with staying healthy: wearing masks, washing our hands, keeping our distance, and Googling things like, Should I disinfect my groceries?... But ironically, we also picked up some not-so-healthy habits that helped us get through the Groundhog Day vibes of the past nine months (or has it been nine years?) without going completely stir crazy. The unsung heroes of my fitness routine? My workout clothes. They’re the REAL MVP. ((Those things get so drenched in sweat, then thrown in the wash, then drenched in sweat in a never-ending cycle!!! #sogross)) ... I HATE that musty not-quite-clean smell that can sneak up over time on well-loved workout clothes, and because I try to use as few chemicals as possible in my house, I used to struggle to find GOOD natural alternatives to laundry soap that actually made my laundry come out smelling like a dream! #theotherMVP The secret to un-stinking my workout clothes? It’s cheap: pre-soaking in a 1:4 solution of vinegar and water for half an hour before starting the laundry load. You can also try cup of baking soda! For all you moms working out at home with your kiddos [save this for later ] It’s okay if your workouts only last for 10-20 minutes before someone has a complete meltdown. It’s okay if you give your kid some screen time so you have some time to yourself.... It’s okay if your kids get out every single toy and make a big ol’ mess while you’re getting your body movin’. Whatever keeps em’ busy It’s okay if you planned to do one type of workout and ended up doing something completely different. Working out with kids is not easy. Period. Weekends are for baking with the kiddos! I try to keep it healthy even in the treats department, but don't get me wrong, I do love me some cookies once in a while. These delicious oatmeal raisin cranberry cookies are just the thing when you want something sweet that won't wreck your healthy eating plan. Ingredients... Nonstick cooking spray 1 cups whole-wheat flour 1 cup dry old-fashioned rolled oats tsp. baking soda 1 scoop whey protein powder, vanilla flavor cup thawed apple juice concentrate cup unsweetened applesauce cup raisins cup unsweetened dried cranberries Instructions Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly coat baking sheet with spray. Set aside. Combine flour, oats, baking soda, and Protein Powder in a medium bowl; mix well. Set aside. Combine apple juice concentrate and applesauce in a medium bowl; mix well. Add the apple juice mixture to the flour mixture; mix until just blended. Fold in raisins and cranberries; mix well. Drop by rounded Tbsp. onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned. Enjoy and don't forget to share

Fall flavors in the house! I ended up with so many lovely squashes this year that I had to try out some new recipes. Here's a new fav:... COCONUT RED KURI SQUASH SOUP Serves 4 1 large red kuri squash (around 2-2 pounds) 1 teaspoon avocado oil 1 white onion, quartered 1 cups vegetable stock 1 cup milk 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar teaspoon sea salt (+ more to taste) Freshly ground black pepper, to taste 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon curry powder teaspoon fresh grated ginger Pinch of red pepper flakes METHOD: Preheat oven to 400 F and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Cut squash into quarters and scoop out the seeds. Roast for 45-60 minutes, cut side up, until the squash is tender when pierced with a fork and lightly browned. When 20 minutes is left on the squash, add quartered onion to baking tray and allow to roast for the remainder of the time. Allow squash to slightly cool before handling. Gently scrape squash flesh from skin and add to the base of a high-speed blender. (Discard skin, or eat as a snack!) Add the remainder of the soup ingredients to the blender and blend on high for 5 minutes until squash soup is creamy and piping hot! Add more salt to taste if necessary. Ladle into bowls, garnish with a dollop of coconut milk and a sprinkle of black pepper, red pepper flakes, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Enjoy! Add some crusty croutons, pumpkin seeds, roasted chickpeas, or even a kale chip or two for some texture! Yum!
