It IS getting scary outside as we move into December, with numbers of Covid 19 cases in the community & the hospitals rising. There is a lot of misinformation on social media but the take home messages are: - in the first few days, Covid 19 symptoms range from none to severe muscle aches, headaches, fevers, congestion. Most tell me "I thought I had a cold". You are infectious and passing virus to close contacts for 2 days BEFORE symptoms arise. - cough, chest pressure, sh...ortness of breath may present in the first few days or not at all. - most who are going to get very sick, and need access to our amazing hospitals will do so in the 2nd week! This may present with vague signs and symptoms, especially in kids. Those who get the sickest may have had no or minimal symptoms in the first few days. Some of the red flags are easily dismissed (esp in kids) so we need to watch closely for them, so we can identify and treat you! - if you think you "have a cold", then let your physician know and book a virtual appointment. They will begin tracking your illness, and depending on your age, health status, and symptoms, begin to monitor and treat you through this process. Kids will be followed, virtually, every 2 days for 2 weeks. Adults range from self care and followup in a week, to daily virtual visits. Any deterioration in symptoms or red flags will be assessed and you may be asked to be seen in person. You will likely be asked to book a Covid 19 swab through 811, but it is your choice if you do so or not. If you do this, ask your doctor to be notified and let your clinic know you are awaiting a test so we can watch as well. - if your symptoms require an in-person assessment, we will work with you and ensure that the receiving physicians in the facility are aware and prepared for you so you can safely get the tests and care you need, in the correct place. Unfortunately, all the other illnesses and accidents are still happening, and we are seeing scared people presenting late for help and suffering permanent complications that could have been avoided. Know that the clinics and hospitals are there for you - and if you are unsure if you should go to the ER, call our after hours line and we can help sort it out. Some times, we will be able to look after things outside the hospital in the clinic but other times you will NEED to go and we will help coordinate that for you. It will be rough as we move through the days to come, but Sundre and Albertans must stand together. It is our families, our kids and parents at risk. Especially now, at Christmas, it is going to be tough. Stay safe but know you are not alone in this - we are in it together. Your Sundre physicians, clinics and hospital are here for you in this journey.

Call your physician for a virtual appointment if you are concerned about yourself or a family member. The flu shots are now available, and can be booked at local drug stores, public health units as well as through our clinic.

Starting today, we will be accepting applications for financial assistance to aid in k...eeping youth in our community enrolled in organized sports and physical activities. Applications must be completed fully and emailed to [email protected] prior to October 12th, 2020. Over the past couple years, the primary fundraiser for our program was a charity golf tournament. In order to keep financial assistance going out to help keep youth enrolled in activities, we kindly ask for your continued support. If you are able to make a donation, please contact us. Every donation impacts our program and ability to allocate funds to support active healthy youth!

Dear Patients of the Moose and Squirrel Medical Clinic: As promised back in February and March, we at the clinic have been transparent and open about the actions of the government and its impacts on our clinic and community. We are deeply saddened to announce that 5 of our physicians have provided written notice that they will be leaving our community and province at the end of April 2021. As per CPSA guidelines, they will be contacting their patients directly by letter, but ...we wanted to let you as soon as we knew. Dr Dani Diaz, Dr Mark Diaz, Dr Alanna Bowie, Dr Carly Crewe and Dr Anthony Willmot are the physicians who will be leaving. We are dedicated to trying to recruit replacement physicians for those that are leaving in the upcoming months. Those that are leaving are also working to find physicians who would be willing to join this amazing community. As we move forward, we will continue to be open and transparent with our recruitment efforts. For those patients directly affected you will be receiving information from your doctor and please feel free to speak with them when you see them.
