Even though our doors have been closed due to Covid-19 we have been able to continue supporting Moosomin and surrounding communities through a variety of programs. Over the last year we secured grant funding from Second Harvest Food Rescue. During our first round of funding we were able to provide over 80 families with food hampers to help offset some of the struggles that have come with the pandemic. The second round saw us rescuing food that would have otherwise been dis...carded due to restaurant closures. We rescued thousands of pounds of produce and frozen meat that we disbursed to families. Currently approved for another round of grant funding, in the last two weeks we’ve delivered 19 breakfast hampers and that’s just the beginning! Being able to find opportunities to support our community through a difficult time is truly a labour of love. If you or anyone you know may be struggling with food security during this time please reach out to us through messenger, email at [email protected] or call us at 306-435-3993 See more

Happy Thursday everyone! Next week we will be making some cute robins and flower mosaics for our Learning Time craft. Please comment below if you would like a kit. They will be available for pick up on Wednesday, April 28th from 9:30am-7:30pm. Paper Robin... Supplies Needed: Robin Body Pattern Brown Cardstock Paper (2) Small Paper Plate Googly Eye Yellow Cardstock Square (Beak) Brown Paint Orange Paint Paint Brush White Crayon Scissors Glue Directions: Cut out the robin body pattern and then trace it on one sheet of brown cardstock paper. Cut out brown robin body. Paint the rounded belly section of the robin orange. Cut paper plate in half and paint it brown. This will be the wing. Trace your child's hand on the second piece of brown cardstock paper with fingers closed. Cut the traced hand out. You will not need the thumb part of the hand print so you can cut that off. This will be the tail feather of your robin. Cut slits where the four fingers would be to create tail feathers. Make sure not to cut all the way through to the other side. Cut out two feet shapes from remaining brown paper. Cut out a triangle shaped beak from the yellow cardstock paper. When the painted pieces are dry, glue the tail feather at the bottom of your bird body. Glue the paper plate wing onto the body as pictured. Glue on beak, eye and feet. Robins love to eat worms so I've included a few wormy treats for you to enjoy! Mosaic Flower Art Supplies Needed: White Cardstock Paper/Canvas Green Pipe Cleaners Glue Markers Scissors Rhinestones, pom pom's, colored noodles, flowers and gems. Happy Thursday Everyone! Next weeks Learning Time craft will have us getting a little fishy with some fun lentil and button fish. As always, craft kits also include coloring and activity pages. Please comment below if you'd a kit made for you. They will be available for pick up on Wednesday, April 21st from 9:30am-7:30pm. ... Lentil Fish Supplies Needed: Lentils (Green, Red & White) White Glue Fish Template Blue Marker Blue Tissue Paper Scissors Directions: Start by putting a good amount of white glue onto the fish body. I avoided the eyes, spots and fins. Sprinkle green lentils onto the glue. I used my finger to move the lentils around so they fit within the lines. Fill in any empty spots with more glue and lentils. Place glue on the fins and glue on red lentils. Place glue on the spots and glue on white lentils. Once your lentil fish is dry you can either color the background blue with a marker/crayon or you can glue on cut up pieces of tissue paper. I've shown both on my picture. Cover your whole page with blue. Button Fish Supplies Needed: Buttons Brown Paper Blue Cardstock Paper Green Tissue Paper Googly Eyes Colored Paper (Fins) Glue Scissors Reinforcement Stickers Directions: Cut a thin strip of brown paper and glue it on to the bottom of your blue cardstock paper. Crinkle some long strips of green tissue paper and glue them on top of the brown paper. Make sure to have them reach up into the blue as this is seaweed that fish love to swim in. Cut some small triangle shapes from your colored paper. They don't have to match the buttons if you like colorful fish! Glue the tails onto your page making sure you have room around each for button to be placed. Glue buttons on slightly overlapping the tail. Glue a googly eye onto each button. Finish off your project by sticking the reinforcement stickers on by each fish. This resembles air bubble.
