(Slow) Work in progress... continues... adding a line of "Leno" into the shawl (all handspun & hand dyed). I've taken 3 photos so you can see the steps involved: pickup stick is inserted & threads are held crossed... pickup stick is turned on its side to open the space (shed) for the shuttle to carry the silk thread through, locking in the twist... stick is removed & line of "Leno" is completed. My first "Doubleweave" project... from the book by the same name, 1st edition. If I hadn't messed up on my 1st one, & made it too long, I would have had 10 good ones. Oh well.

Back on track... my new puppy (now 4 months old) has allowed me to do some weaving - Hooray! Warp for 6 teatowels, this is #3. Unmercerized cotton, twill weave structure. I think it's the morning sunrises I've been seeing with getting up early to my puppy, that has inspired this colorway. #motherearthstudios #handwoven #cotton

I've been quiet for a while... because Christmas came, & I got a beautiful new puppy! She has filled my days & my heart. But I was able to have a few minutes each day, & just did my first glaze firings. A few posts now, of the successful results. Now that these have been gifted, I can share! My secret pottery project this past few months, was making bells for my friends. Unfortunately, my kiln needed an upgrade partway in, so only half were fired & glazed (still waiting for their clappers). More to come, to be gifted in the new year.
