A little Friday Veterinary Humour and some major truth! Veterinarians act as GPs, ER docs, surgeons, dentists, radiologists, cancer doctors, cardiologists and psychologists under one roof AND on more than one species https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWJpSexAFPk

Sometimes our male pet patients have a condition where one or both testicles do not descend at maturity. This is termed cryptorchism where the retained testicle remains in the abdomen. Because of this abnormal environment, there is risk of testicular cancer and it should be removed. Dr. Jen is performing a laparoscopic retained testicle removal. This is a minimally invasive surgery resulting in a small incision, less post-op pain and a rapid recovery. This is another way we can help our patients with this technology! https://www.mountainvistavet.com/laparoscopic-spay

Now lets look at another important vaccine for a highly contagious upper respiratory infection in our social doggies. Commonly known as "Kennel Cough" we recommend all puppies be vaccinated for kennel cough as well as dogs that frequent dog parks, boarding kennels, grooming facilities and who love to socailize with their doggie friends. Did you know that this vaccine is given orally at our hospital?

Mountain Vista Veterinary Hospital 06.03.2021

Vaccination is an important part of your pet's preventative health care plan. Core vaccines for dogs are important to protect them against several deadly viruses. This is especially important for puppies who require a series of boosters to build protective antibodies.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! But with all the special foods and decorations, come extra hazards for your furry friends. This is a reminder to keep things like small ornaments, festive plants and candles out of reach from your cats and and dogs to avoid injury and illness.... #mountainvistavet #veterinarymedicine #veterinaryhospital #veterinarian #vettech #petrehab #dogsofinstagram #catsofinstagram #vet #collingwood #ontario

Last but not least! Today is not only #Halloween but it’s also the last day of #techmonth! Lacey has been with us a short time, but she’s seamlessly fit right into our clinic family She graduated tech school in 2015 and has experience in small animal medicine as well as veterinary research. When she’s not at the clinic, she’s likely at home with her 2 cats and dog, playing guitar and writing music. Her favourite part of her job is laboratory work including microscopy.... When asked what she wished clients knew about her job, she said she wished pet owners knew how much team work went into each patient visit. Something as simple as a nail trim includes at least two people. Procedures like scopes, ultrasounds and surgery require multiple staff members, each with an important role to keep patients safe and happy. Please join us in thanking our final veterinary technician for her dedication to field. We can’t wait for you all to meet her! #oavt #mountainvistavet #veterinarymedicine #veterinaryhospital #veterinarian #vettech #petrehab #dogsofinstagram #catsofinstagram #vet #collingwood #ontario

Turtle season is winding down in our region but we had this snapper admitted due to some shell trauma. He decided to take a peek out from his hospital bed as our team were working away. If we only knew what he was thinking

This is week 4 of #RVTmonth! We would like to take this opportunity to highlight #RVT Tori! Tori has been a tech for almost 5 years and we’ve been lucky to have her for the past year and half. What she likes most about this job is the fact that she’s always learning and growing as a technician. When she’s not being a super star tech at the hospital, she enjoys camping and playing sports (especially hockey )... When asked what she wished clients and pet owners knew about her job, she said I want them to know I love their animal too. When in hospital, it’s likely a technician that spends the most amount of time with your animal. Technicians often give so much of their time and emotions to their patients in order to do the best job they can. Let’s all give a huge #thankyou to Tori for her hard work and love she brings to the hospital, her patients and all our clients #mountainvistavet #veterinarymedicine #veterinaryhospital #veterinarian #vettech #petrehab #dogsofinstagram #catsofinstagram #vet #collingwood #ontario

Autumn's cooler weather provides a great opportunity for scenic hikes with your pet. If you and your dog enjoy getting outdoors in the fall, it's still important that you keep an eye out for ticks, which stay active in temperatures above freezing. If you have not already, contact us to get your pet's Fall/Winter tick prevention. We have easy curbside pick up and if we have not seen your pet in over a year or if you are new to our practice, we can set up a Parasite Telehealth Consultation with one of our veterinarians. Book online at: https://www.mountainvistavet.com/
