MHMHA Mount Hamilton Minor Hockey Association 25.01.2022

Update on our current understanding to resume the hockey season. Unless the Ontario government changes the arena openings, we will start our programs on Jan 31st per previous schedule shared with all. We are still awaiting updates from the Hamilton Public Health and/or the Alliance office if any restrictions will be placed on participants and spectators. MHMHA is lucky that our home arena with a 50% capacity should permit all spectators to enter. Presently MHMHA's ice contr...act has no ice times available during the weekend of Feb 5-6th. All ice times were assigned to the Hamilton Figure Skating club at the start of the season as they have traditionally held their annual skating festival. We have made a request to the city of Hamilton to buy these hours back as it appears the figure skating club has canceled their festival. We continue to await a confirmation. Take care and stay Safe Ghislain Bellehumeur President - MHMHA

UPDATE to ALLIANCE HOCKEY VACCINATION POLICY Date: December 7, 2021 Re: UPDATE: ALLIANCE Hockey Vaccination Policy To: ALLIANCE Hockey Members... The following information will be added to the ALLIANCE Hockey Vaccination Policy for the 2021-22 season: RE: 2010 Birth Year Participants (turning 12 on or after January 1, 2022) 2010-birth year participants will be afforded a grace period of 12 weeks from the date of their 12th birthday to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Once the individual reaches 12 weeks after their birthday, they must provide proof of vaccination in accordance with the ALLIANCE Hockey Vaccination Policy. Re: Participants Aged 5-11 Vaccines are the most effective tool to protect ourselves and our participants from COVID-19. We have seen the positive outcome vaccination has had for our teams who are fully vaccinated. The COVID-19 vaccine has been approved in Canada for youth aged 5-11 in Canada. It is important for your child to get fully vaccinated to have the best protection against COVID-19. It is recommended that children aged 5-11 receive two doses, 8 weeks apart for optimal protection. We highly recommend that all eligible participants obtain their vaccination for the health of our participants and the best chance for the continuation of our hockey season. For more information about COVID-19 Vaccines for Children and Youth, please CLICK HERE. COVID-19 & Travel Outside of Canada / Re-Entry into Canada Participants under 12 who are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated must follow specific requirements when you return to or enter Canada. As of Dec 7, 2021, this includes 14 days of isolation where they are not to attend school or sporting events. For this reason, these participants will not be permitted to participate in ALLIANCE sanctioned activities for 14 days after the date of return to Canada. If you have plans to travel outside of Canada, please familiarize yourselves with the information provided by the Government of Canada: COVID-19 Travellers entering Canada Please also continue to follow the COVID-19 precautionary guidelines which include: Honestly answer screening questions. Do not attend hockey if you have any new or worsening symptoms. If in doubt, sit out! Wear face covering when in facilities. Participants are required to wear masks in the dressing rooms until they are ready to go on the ice with their helmets on. Please protect yourself, your family, and your community by socially distancing from anyone outside of your household. Wash your hands often. The ALLIANCE Hockey Vaccination Policy will be reviewed prior to the 2022-23 Season.

Wishing everyone had a great Family Day (post delay is on the admin! T.o.) Covice 19 update with regards to hockey With Hamilton moving into the red zone, our hockey season will resume as we participated in December before the lockdown. No games or scrimmages and just coaches and players permitted in the building (10 players and 2 coaches).Currently it is understood that we could be in the Red zone for two weeks before another review would either keep us in the Red zone or ...lower us into the Orange zone to resume some games. In the event cases would start to climb, the province's public health could move us back into any zone within days. As for the lockdown that finishes tonight, I have been informed arenas will not be available for use until February 22nd at the earliest. Staff have been moved elsewhere and will need to be brought back in and the facilities will need to be readied for use. Our association continues to remain on pause pending an opportunity to return to the ice later in the season with public health approval to play games. We have been telling our members that we would still support some form of season even if it permitted the last 4 weeks or something better. Discussions with the City of Hamilton are ongoing with the possibility of extending the season into late March and even into April. Cost would be recalculated at that point to determine money to be returned to the members based on those extra ice times. Stay Safe! Wishing our MHMHA families a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays as well as Happy New Year. As you might be aware our 6-week season has been paused due to Hamilton moving into the Grey Zone. Your MHMHA executive continues to have hope that Covid numbers will drop and public health will permit hockey to resume for our young players by late January. The MHMHA will discuss with the City of Hamilton when appropriate, to extend the season if possible, into late March and even into early April. Regards Ghislain Bellehumeur President & RIC MHMHA

Nov 16 Red Zone Update Hamilton entering the Red Zone Following an end of day update per the city of Hamilton representatives this evening. The Ontario government's public health has ruled effective tomorrow November 17th, the on-ice participation will be limited to 10 people each session. This is the total number of players and bench staff participating. City did try to get us to 12 participants on ice which is our current team structure, but the government did not agree.... Based on these tight restrictions, MHMHA will be pausing all programs effective immediately for the next 28 days or until we can return with our 10 players and 2 bench staff at a minimum. Please stay safe as we look forward to more fun times and good memories at the rink soon. Regards Ghislain Bellehumeur President & RIC MHMHA

MHMHA Mount Hamilton Minor Hockey Association 20.10.2020

***UPDATE, City of Hamilton, RED*** Nov 16, 2020 4:30pm... Information gathered following this afternoon's city Zoom meeting with regards to Hamilton entering the Red Zone. Note: it could change again before the day is out or throughout the week or these next 28 days. City interpretation of what we can do: - NO half or full ice game or scrimmage otherwise coaching staff will be fined and even suspended for this COVID violation. - Each facility is limited to 50 occupants in total. Of these 50 occupants, no more than 25 are permitted on any ice surface. City employees are not to be counted in any of these capacity numbers. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Mountain Arena & Skating Centre are considered one facility to share the capacity of 50 occupants. So, when MHMHA has an hour of ice at Mtn Arena we are permitted 25 occupants, which is currently our two scheduled teams with coaching staff and no Parent or Guardian in the building. Question to the city for review is close the doors into the main foyer and make our entrance a side door or back to the old main doors from Hester Street. This would isolate the hockey rink from the skating centre potentially permitting us to increase our numbers to 50 like our first couple weeks of hockey. *Pending Hamilton public health reply. If we are scheduled at Lawfield Arena, we can have only one parent or guardian enter with a participant. This keeps it like the last two weeks. If we are scheduled at the Quad Arena, they have to take maximum of 50 divided by 4 rinks. This will mean each ice pad will be permitted to have 12 occupants which equals to one team and the 2 coaches with no Parent or Guardian permitted. As the dust continues to settle and more details emerge in the next 24-48 hours our schedule will be the following: Tonight, Monday, November 16 at Mtn Arena - U18 can practice with no parent or guardian in the building. Tuesday, November 17 at Lawfield Arena, nothing changes with our U11 group with exception of no 30 min scrimmage. Wednesday, November 18 at Mtn Arena - U15 can practice with no parent or guardian in the building. Regards, MHMHA Executives

MHMHA 2020-21 Hockey Season Starting Nov 2nd with a few open spots remaining Our modified hockey season start Nov 2nd, schedule has been shared with coaches and we are working to update website with the detailed information. Now wishing everyone a fun safe return as your Convenors, Coaches and Trainers have been working hard with the preparations and taking the extra courses required this season to permit our young players an opportunity to have some fun physical activity.... This is our Goal this season for the Mount Hamilton Minor Hockey Association (MHMHA) players. The alternative option was shutting it down for the season which all your executives did not support even if it required extra effort by all this season. As for our limit on spectators permitted in the building this season, please be mindful that one participant with one guess is the public health requirement for our ice rental to respect the 50 persons limit in the building. Players fans, Coaches, Trainers, Referees, Convenors and Executives add up very quickly to reach this limit. As for entering the building, a check in will take place 15 minutes prior to all your scheduled ice times, this will avoid participant and guess being denied entry to the building. Friendly reminder that registration fees are now due and payable to [email protected] MHMHA still has a few remaining openings to offer U8 (old -Minor Novice) Division - opening for 1 player U9 (old - Major Novice) Division - opening for 1 players or goalie U13 (old-PW) Division - opening for 1 goalie or player U15 (old-Bantam) Division - opening for 1 player U18 (old-Midget) Division - opening for 1 player Cost per player is $450 with the exception of the U18 Division which is $495. President Message Do hope everyone had a great and safe long weekend. Now I need a few minutes of your time to please send your response now to [email protected] if you have yet to do so. Confirmation of your child's participation is required immediately. We need to know if they are returning or if a refund is being requested for this season of hockey. Lots of discussions and meetings have been held over the last few months on how to deal with hockey in Hamilton ...during the COVID crisis. Latest discussions have permitted an understanding that having your children play with their friends within their Association of choice is the best option to make it a fun situation during a very difficult time in everyone's life. Understanding that the jointly issued letter by all individual community-based Hamilton hockey Associations requesting reply by September 15th has changed. As pressure from the city to lock in team numbers which drives our ice requirements is being requested like yesterday. FYI - Latest changes as of last Thursday from the city of Hamilton is that Mountain Arena is to open on November 2nd, which would mean that previously identified Atom (U11), PeeWee (U13) and Bantam (U15) will not move to the Lawfield Arena as originally identified. Again, your reply is urgently required. Wishing those returning to school this week, a fun safe return. Regards Ghislain Bellehumeur President & RIC MHMHA

Hello MHMHA Families! See below for new information about the upcoming season. HOUSE LEAGUE HOCKEY 2020-2021... Over the past few months, the Hamilton Minor Hockey Council has been working with the City of Hamilton, the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario, and the Ontario Hockey Federation to find a way that House League hockey can be offered during these trying times. Below is the information relating to running House League, subject to approval by the local Health Unit and our governing body, the Alliance. This plan is based on the province staying in Stage 3 and will require volunteer support from many parents. Most importantly, we need to ascertain the number of players wishing to play. The season will begin November 1 and end March 14 (the start of March Break). There will be a 2 week break at Christmas. Teams will practise and play games on a scheduled evening(s) throughout the week and on weekends. Running this program means that your child is likely going to play on a different ice surface and in a different building than you are expecting. We trust that this will be looked upon as a great experience, providing an opportunity to play the game we love. Due to the virus, there will be limited ice available. Our current plan is to use the ice surfaces listed below, however there are no guarantees. o Initiation Program Quad Pad (Mohawk 4 Ice Centre) o Novice Quad Pad or Rosedale o Atom, PeeWee, Bantam Lawfield Arena (Bill Friday Arena) o Midget, Juvenile Chedoke Arena Based on the limits to the number of players that can be on the ice and our governing bodies rules, we will be playing a modified 4 on 4 game. The format is attached. Note that there will be no playoffs, Super Saturday or City Championship play. Select will not be played this year as per OHF and Health Authority guidelines. To provide this program, we will need the support of our volunteers more than ever before. NEXT STEPS: If you have not yet registered, and want your child to play, please do so as soon as possible. The cut-off date for registration is September 15. Given the constraints we are under, we will not be able to accept any players after that date. Follow this link to our website to register https://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=m-h-m-h-a. Completed registration forms to be emailed to [email protected]. If you have already registered, we need to know if you still want to play or receive a refund. Contact - Ghislain Bellehumeur at [email protected] to advise if you are still interested in playing or would like a refund. Please provide your child's full name as well as DOB. Also looking for names of those willing to coach, train or volunteer. Looking forward to seeing you at the rink soon!

Hi everyone, a quick update, Please understand much is still up the air and will be determined by the regional governments on how we get back in action. Further speculation isn’t going to be helpful and we won’t share more at this time.... What we know: All associations are under this guideline The most unique/important requirements in Ontario (outlined in Ontario’s Framework for Reopening Stage 3 on July 17th) include: -Maximum of 50 people in a building -Maximum of 50 participants in a sports league -Continued requirement of social distancing -Ontario will remain in Phase 3 until a vaccine for COVID 19 is available There is some expectation that the collective regional groups will have more concrete information to share in September. If anything changes, or updates become available we will share more.
