As of February 1, Canadian businesses--particularly those in travel, tourism, hospitality and arts sectors--which have been heavily impacted by the pandemic can access guaranteed, low-interest loans of $25,000 to $1 million. The funds are guaranteed by the Canadian government through the BDC. Parents and caregivers, pay attention to the new Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB). The CRCB will provide a $500-per-week taxable benefit for up to 26 weeks if an individual misses work to care for a family member due to Covid-19. This includes parents who have to miss work due to their childs school closing or going to remote learning due to Covid-19. Heres a great article summarizing the three new government benefits now that CERB is ending. https://www.investmentexecutive.com//jami/after-the-cerb/(CRCB,%2C%20beginning%20on%20Sept.%2027.

This article is a short, interesting read. It highlights how things have changed, may continue to change and how this market is different from other recessionary markets. For example, the article goes on to state, consumer products such as RVs, Seadoos, snowmobiles and ATVs, which might normally be very weak under recessionary conditions, in this new self-isolation/social distancing world consumers and investors alike are seeing the appeal of leisure activities which are allowed to be done privately or in isolation. And share prices are reflecting this. As the article points out, the share prices of RV makers Thor Industries and Winnebago are up 209% and 212% respectively from their March lows.
