Been a little distracted. Sorry for the delay. Who to throw. Whack things with the noodle to warm up. - Put a ball in the pocket - Set the handle of the stick on your squarely on your shoulder ... - Put your "bottom" hand over the butt - Hold the handle with your "top" hand about half way up and raise the stick off your shoulder - Point the butt at your target - Take a big step toward your target and launch it, like a big whack Move your top hand down toward the butt to get more speed. Release the ball as you step To get a high throw use a rope. Throw over the rope, but don't let your stick hit the rope. (The quick stop will release the ball upward) Take aim by pointing the butt and looking at a target. Start with big targets like goals then make them smaller, like empty cans. Add a run 10 000 reps should do it.
I was hoping to follow up some of these activities with video but the weather and my camera person aren't cooperating. If you've done enough "Whacking" the next step is to use a stick. The lacrosse stick has 4 important parts. The head, the pocket, the handle and the Butt! Set the handle on your shoulder. Point the butt at your target. Place your "bottom hand" at the butt and set your "top hand" below the half way point of the handle. ... Lift the stick off your shoulder to avoid clipping your ear. Point the butt at your target. Take a giant step forward and . . . launch it, with the same "Whacking" motion. Repeat about 10 000 times. See more
Don't drop the baby! Children pick up the stick and put a ball in the pocket. We call holding the ball, "cradling" because we rock the ball back and forth. Who do you know who gets cradled? . . . the baby! Rock your baby gently back and forth and take it for a walk; then we'll jog: then we'll run. But remember: DON"T DROP THE BABY!
If you can't get a stick and ball right away, cut a pool noodle in half and blow up a balloon. Hold the noodle with both hands on the shoulder.Take a giant step and Whack it! Whack the floor, whack a wall, whack a chair; but don't whack your brother. This is a throwing motion. The big step is a weight shift and the beginning of setting direction. Throw and catch the balloon. Use the noodle to tap the balloon and keep it off the ground. Tap it then whack it! This is all eye h...and coordination. Even more fun outside with more space. Not many toys more fun than a balloon! You must watch children -3 years will put balloons in their mouth. Supervise.
