Milliners show up in news and history only rarely. Here is one:

May we present one of our recent pieces, a delicate amd filigreed Regency (c.1811-1820) Equipage, as Chatelaines were then known, for a fine sempstress and needle-worker. This set comprises Scissors and Case, Needle Book, Pin Wheel, Thimble holder, Tout-en-Case, for holding, in this case, a few winders of threads. We also include a clutch of keys, for the tea chest &c, as well as for the Romantic Symbolism of emulating the mediaeval woman of the castle, who bore the name C...hatelaine, which would soon refer to the whole object, and the style, instead of the role of the person. Equipages, (as they were generally known in the 18th c, and until 1828) and Chatelaines are decorative tools to wear, and can include an amazing selection of Appendages and Breloques - from sewing and art to elegance and science. Slowly, Slowly, we get things done. Two Chatelaines have gone to their people, but I can't share full pics yet. Here are some appendages we can show you, though; A Potion Locket (usually for lip balm, but supplied empty) A string holder for a Marketeer's Chatelaine- many of the needs for pop-up shops or local markets. The Marketeer model also has Scissors, Marker, Pen, Sticky Tape, a hook for your car keys, and a Tout-en-Case for safety pins, coffee coins, and the like....
