Learning with Ms Campbell

In late June, I brought in some swallowtail eggs that I’d found in my garden. We knew they wouldn’t become butterflies before the end of school year, but we really enjoyed watching them grow through the various instar stages. And grow they did! I brought them home, and look, here’s our first butterfly. It’s an eastern black swallowtail. Some of their host plants are dill, parsley, and rue. And perfectly timed, one of our students brought in some great books about the butterfly life cycle which included information specific to swallowtails!

Grade threes are off to Upper Canada Village on Friday. Please dress for the weather. Every day is a fun day at the village, rain or shine, but try to stay dry in the event of showers
