PRE-REGISTRATION FOR THE 2021 BARRELMAN NIAGARA FALLS IS NOW CLOSED! Thank you to everyone who pre-registered! We have reached our race cap limit. As we get closer to being able to confirm the race in 2021 can proceed we can assume that some athletes will change their mind. At that time we will put up a Wait List so other athletes can claim those registration spots. - John Salt

We are really excited with how athletes have reacted to our Barrelman Pre-Registration option, THANK YOU!! The response has been outstanding, with over 800 new pre-registrations in the past 24 hours. If we add the existing deferrals, we have almost reached our maximum limit. If you intend to pre-register for Barrelman 2021, we strongly suggest you do it very soon. If we’re able to race, it’s clear we’ll have a magical day at Barrelman 2021. Should we be unable to obtain ap...proval for this year’s race (and the situation remains unclear), rest assured we will carry over your pre-registrations to the 2022 event. When 2022 registration opens, everyone who pre-registered for this year will receive a code to grant them the opportunity to officially register before we open registration to the general public. Thanks again for all your support of Barrelman Niagara Falls!! https://raceroster.com/even//47285/barrelman-niagara-falls

We promised our Barrelman athletes some news today. We have heard from quite a few athletes who are concerned that there will not be enough spots once we are able to open registration. The concern is that the deferrals will make it harder to register. In thinking about it from the athlete/customer perspective we have come up with a solution that we hope will make people happy. We have decided to offer you something entirely new in triathlon. For those of you concerned about not being able to enter, we’re offering you the chance to pre-register for Barrelman. If you wish, you can guarantee yourself entry to the race now, without charge, no-strings-attached. - John Salt and Jason Vurma, Race Directors The email is attached https://conta.cc/2Ryeiwa

As promised we will be sending an email to our athletes tomorrow with the latest Barrelman news. We always try to do what we feel is best for our athlete/customers and hope you will agree. If you are not in the Barrelman email database we will also post it here. We think this might be a first for triathlon in Ontario. Stay tuned!

I was proud to be part of the original CESA Interim Board, along with Steve Fleck, until the beginning of the year. CESA has made great strides in their efforts to obtain financial support for race management companies in the endurance sport sector however, there is still much to do! The question is twofold: One is whether races return in 2021; the other is whether event management companies will survive in 2022 if they cannot produce races and generate income in 2021? Read...ing this article in Canadian Running will give athletes an understanding of how dire the situation is for all Event Management Companies. - John Salt https://runningmagazine.ca//on-the-brink-can-canadas-race/
