PUBLIC NOTICE PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY FOR THE SANDY LAKE PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM Issued by the Medical Officer of Health, Manitoba Health and... the Office of Drinking Water, Manitoba Conservation and Climate November 3, 2020 Scheduled maintenance to the Sandy Lake water system could potentially compromise the safety of the water supply. A boil water advisory is being issued starting at 10:00 AM on November 3, 2020 to ensure the protection of public health. RECOMMENDATIONS Until further notice, all water used for consumption should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before it is used for: Drinking and ice making Preparing beverages, such as infant formula Preparing food, including washing fruits and vegetables Brushing teeth It is not necessary to boil tap water used for other household purposes, such as laundry or washing dishes. Adults and older children that are able to avoid swallowing the water can wash, bathe, or shower. Young children should be sponge bathed. If boiling is not practical, an alternate and safe supply of water should be used for consumptive purposes; i.e. bottled water. Boil Water Advisory Fact Sheet #1 - Boil Water Advisory For Manitoba Water System Users contains additional information on water use and can be found on the website below. All commercial, public and permitted facilities (ex: restaurants, health care facilities, day cares, personal care homes and other private facilities that provide food and water services) must follow water use recommendations from the Boil Water Advisory Fact Sheet #3 Boil Water Advisory For Commercial/Public Facilities. A copy of this Fact Sheet is available on the website below. To avoid burn injuries from hot water, caution should be taken. Please keep young children away from boiling water. Place kettles and pots away from counter and stove edges. Please share this information with other people who use the tap water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (ex: renters, tenants, staff, or clients). DURATION The Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until the water supplied by this water system no longer presents a risk to public health. The Municipality of Harrison Park is so pleased to announce that our very own Donna Arksey was nominated by our office for a Safe Work Award in the fall of 2019 and she was selected as the winner! It is unfortunate that she was unable to accept the award herself however her husband Darren made sure that she knew she was receiving the award and she was very honoured. Please click on the following link to see the video honouring Donna. https://youtu.be/6FaqfZ357CU ... We could not be more proud of Donna's accomplishments over the years while employed for the Municipalities. She was truely one of a kind and she will be greatly missed.

Municipality of Harrison Park 04.04.2020

The Municipality of Harrison Park is relying on the guidance of healthcare professionals and the provincial government as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve. All Manitobans have a role to play in slowing the spread of the virus and minimizing its impact on our health-care system and in our communities. The Municipality of Harrison Park continues to support social distancing measures. Effective immediately, all visitors to the Municipal Offices are required to wear a ma...sk. There will be no public access to the Municipality of Harrison Park Public Works Shop, Village Shops, Fire Halls, and Waste Disposal Site Offices. While our offices currently remain open to the public, we request that our ratepayers pay bills online or mail a cheque if possible, rather than coming into the office to do so. We also ask that any requests or concerns should be phoned in or emailed. Anyone displaying symptoms of illness should not enter the office for any reason. The Municipality of Harrison Park will be continually evaluating these measures. As per Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living: Community transmission of COVID-19 is occurring across much of the Prairie Mountain Health Region. New clusters are occurring, but can be controlled through self-isolation, testing, and contact tracing so they do not spread further. The health care system is currently able to manage COVID-19 case levels, however changes in restrictions and behaviors are required to prevent further level changes. Prairie Mountain Health region remains elevated to the restricted level according to the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System. As of Monday, Aug. 24, masks will be mandatory in all public indoor places and at all indoor and outdoor public gatherings in the region. Public gatherings will also be restricted to 10 people, both indoors and outdoors. Manitobans in the Prairie Mountain Health Region must: Stay home when sick. Practice social distancing, hand washing/sanitizing and cough etiquette. Wear a mask in all indoor public places and at all indoor and outdoor public gatherings. Follow public health guidance on travel and self-isolation. Limit group sizes to a maximum of 10 people indoors and outdoors. Vulnerable people, such as seniors, are encouraged to exercise additional caution. The Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living website is a great resource to find factual, clear information regarding COVID-19, and what you need to know in Manitoba. Please visit https://www.gov.mb.ca/health/coronavirus/index.html.

If the bear charges, stand your ground and use your bear deterrent spray. If the bear attacks during a surprise encounter, play dead.... If the bear persistently stalks you and then attacks, fight back. If the bear attacks you in your tent, fight back. FYI - A typical running water toilet will waste hundreds of gallons of water per month which translates to approximately $200 unnecessarily tacked onto your quarterly water bill-- that's nearly $800 dollars a year down your toilet bowl. The above scenario is in the case of an extreme toilet leak. (This is also the same for a leaky facet). Even if you don't see the leak in the toilet it can be leaking. To test if your toilet is always running put some Kool-Aid liquid into the tank of your toilet and without flushing, if the color in your bowl changes color, you have a leak in your toilet. Its cheaper to buy Kool-Aid and test then find out your toilet is leaking with a high water bill!

The Municipality of Harrison Park wants to issue a reminder to only flush human waste and toilet paper down the toilet. Rags, wipes, paper towels and sheets can cause damage to the Municipals waste water system or home septic systems leading to costly and timely repairs. Even items like wipes that claim to be flushable don’t break down easily and can clog the sewer and septic systems. Bottom Line is that the only safe items to flush are human waste and toilet paper. If you are forced to use something other than toilet paper, please place it in a bag and dispose of it in your trash.

MUNICIPALITY OF HARRISON PARK Information Bulletin March 26, 2020... During these difficult times, our number one priority is to continue to deliver essential services while keeping residents and employees safe. The fear of the unknown, can be the greatest fear of all. Don’t forget about the seniors and the most vulnerable people in our communities. Reach out to your neighbors and offer to help them out, or simply check in with them to make sure they know they are not alone. A number of our residents are in mandatory self-isolation or considered at high risk of contracting COVID-19. As this pandemic evolves, the need to help one another will increase. The Municipality recognizes this and in order to help our residents, the Municipality is offering to keep a list of people willing to assist neighbors at this time of need. If you would like to volunteer, please contact our office at 204-848-7614. If you are in self-isolation or considered at high risk, and in need of assistance, please contact our office and we will forward your information to one of the volunteers to lend you a hand. If you have any further questions, please contact our office at 204-848-7614 and our staff will be more than willing to assist you.
