With the pull to want to support small businesses are you still ordering from Amazon this season or trying to safely shop local?
First of all we LOVE Christmas time, second of all we have almost made it! A year like no other is about to be over and we would love to know what is one thing you learned or appreciated this year? We will start...... We learned you could work in your PJs for many days in a row and only change your shirt for the zoom calls... We also learned a little red wine makes us very creative!
Something for brands to think about...82% of consumers say then they ask a question on social they want an immediate response. It may be time to think about chat bots, or hiring a customer service person to retain valuable clients!
Looking back on 2020 the one thing we can say for sure is that video was the winner! Whether it be a live video, a Reel, a Tik Tok vid or anything else, anyone who adopted this strategy won!
Oh, the weather outside is frightful...if you are on the West Coast of Canada like us! It is a busy time for digital marketing as people try to capitalize on Christmas shopping that's for sure and we have a wait list for new clients until January but we are always here for any advice you need on your social strategy!
Exhale...do you hear the sound of parents everywhere sending their kids back to school, myself included! Working for 7 months with kids running around was challenging to say the least but MONDAY life will be back to normal and we are opening up to take on new clients again!
Once upon a time Facebook tried to buy Tik Tok and they said...no Fast forward, Instagram releases "Reels" Who is using it? Will it replace tik tok, the way stories replaced Snapchat? ... Thoughts?
Do you need a professional camera? No...is the short answer! Spend more time creating funnels that work, funnels that generate revenue!... At the end of the day when it comes to social media IF we are using it for business, we are all selling something... A smartphone and one of many editing apps or pre-sets is more than what you need to build a great online brand. So buy the camera if you want to buy the camera, but if it seems daunting your smart phone will do!
Back from vacation with a fresh perspective! We went to an Island on the coast of BC where the wifi we had hooked up was Internet 15 - you guys that is like dial-up! A few afternoon beverages and a lot of laughter each day and we managed to get the work done!... So happy to be back in the world of high-speed wifi...and showers...
My Monday survival kit Truth, I don't actaully drink caffiene and haven't for three years but I still can't wake up without decaf coffee...
How much does it cost to hire someone to manage your social media? The answer is....it depends. I know, the worst answer right! It depends on how many platforms? how many posts? is graphic design involved? are we running ads? are we doing photoshoots? ... The best thing to do is to create a list of what you need and what your goals are and find someone who you feel can help you hit those goals!
15 days away from a vacation...a VACATION! It feels like forever since I have been able to say that! We are heading to a local piece of paradise here in beautiful BC...
I have tried to find the words to say this week but they failed me so I sat and listened, and had hard conversations and asked questions and spent countless hours looking at social posts... So here is a few things I have been able to put together 1. All lives don't matter until black lives matter (so please stop saying "All Lives Matter") ... 2. Standing with the Black Lives Matter movement isn't "trendy" and it isn't something for your Instagram to make you look "woke" it is standing behind humans who have suffered through 400 years of oppression that we as white people will never understand. 3. GO right now and follow the men and women leading the charge, share their messages, support them and their recommended charities. 4. For my fellow social media people, take an inventory of how diverse your client's companies are. Have real conversations about how they can be more intentionally inclusive, don't just copy and paste. Share authentic messages from the founders and what they are doing to be better or better yet...go be better and let your actions speak #blacklivesmatter #standwithyou
I have a few favourite social media tools friends! 1. Later - for scheduling 2. Mojo - for making stories... 3. Canva - for making E-blast assets 4. Unsplash - for stock photos Go be awesome!
How we all feel coming out of the last few months! We are not done yet, but we made it you guys! I am so proud of how I have seen people helping people and businesses helping businesses! Remember if you can support a local small business do it, even if its just a comment on their social media! We are all still in this together...
LONG WEEKEND VIBES! You can catch me praying for the sun in rainy Vancouver and listening to podcasts before it is a respectable hour to break out the tunes and margaritas!
Canadian long weekend! Got my mixed tape all qued up...or apple playlist BUT doesn't mixtape sound so much cooler!
Now that the world is taking steps toward returning to normal...or a new normal I hope, what are some of the digital marketing tips you discovered in the quarantine? Have people really made the full leap to online shopping over visiting stores? I think so! Is Pinterest an amazing gem I took for granted? YES!... Did real authentic conversations in marketing covert better than just continuing business as usual? Absolutely I hope that as we take steps into our new, more connected world we remember the valuable lessons we can take with us to make us and our clients better.
I wonder when we look back on this year what we will remember most, and how we will retell the story of the world literally shutting down to the next generation... Should we all celebrate a mini New Year in July and have a re-do for the last 6 months of the year?
Let's talk about the term "tone deaf" if you are a business who is marketing through a worldwide pandemic I would just ask you to think about your content more than ever! Just selling products or rolling along, business as usual probably won't build any customer loyalty and it may have you come across as uncaring. Try being vulnerable and connecting...are you working from home all day with a messy bun or bed head-turning off the camera on all video calls? Are you binge-watc...hing Tiger King and Too Hot to Handle whilst drinking your second glass of afternoon wine? That is OK too! Do you have a product or a service that can help people during this time, tell them how? Just be real, I don't have a better word - I wish I did. Now is not the time to be "fancy" Now is the time to connect and build brand loyalty like you have never seen before.
Quarantining with two children, 9 & 11...working...and trying to educate them is going fine...we are all fine. 1. Disney + is educational 2. I have let at least one of my children have hot dogs for breakfast ... 3. The Skip the Dishes driver and I are on a first-name basis 4. Clicking on conference calls with no makeup in the same hoodie for 3 days has been a "thing" this week 5. Debated having a White Claw at noon on more than one day How are you doing friends?
Back in the 1800s, the British Empire thought that Gin & Tonics were medicinal....are they? I don't know, I stopped reading once I got the information I needed So...when life gives you lemons (HELLO Vitamin C) add one part gin, 4 parts tonic, and a lime! I can say, some of my best business ideas have been brainstormed while with my friends sharing a refreshing cocktail...
When you try a new "thing" and it works!! How are you pivoting your business during this time? My clients are seeing great success utilizing IG Live, and getting really clear on our copy! We are in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, you HAVE to talk about it. People don't want you to sell them, they want to know you are with them...... #alontoegther
What Instagram analytics matter? Likes and followers can be manipulated and while it isn't a recommended practice it is still happening. That is why when choosing to work with an influencer for our clients we want to make sure their engagement is high in shares and comments as well... There is a VERY big difference between posting content and connecting with others...
Not getting the results you want with your ads? Not sure if you should be running ads right now? The answer is yes, you can still run ads. The other answer is, it depends based on your business where you will get the best return on investment for your ads... DM us for an obligation free consultation.
When life gives you lemons, add vodka or gin and sip accordingly... #stayhome #workingwithkids
I'm fine...it's fine....we are all fine. None of us were prepared for this. So if you are having a hard time swerving, don't sweat it! If your business wasn't set up for marketing during a worldwide pandemic...its OK! Here are a few steps you can take now!... 1. LISTEN to your consumers, what are they saying, how are they feeling? 2. Do you need to adjust your product margins to make prices more affordable? 3. Don't get fancy...now is not the time to book the big photoshoots and worry about everything being perfect. Now is the time to get your product or service out there 4. Utilize the power of IG and FB live for HIGH TOUCH marketing.
I don't know you and likely you don't know me, but at this moment in time, we are all more connected than perhaps we ever have been. If you are like me, working from your home office with two kids yelling "MOM" or "DAD" when they hear a call come in, I feel you! Are you wearing the same "quarantine outfit" every day and the camera on Video calls is always on "OFF" then I feel you!? Do you have a hard time recalling which day it is? Have you also watched Tiger King and ha...ve spent more time than you would like to admit wondering if Carole fed her husband to the tigers... We are blessed to have a digital business and still be working but it is hard out there friends. So many loved one's are closing businesses. laying off employees. Lets remember to be kinder to oursleves and those around us in the days ahead! Much Love!

January didn't count right...February is the new January?
Oh, Monday! Actually our favourite day of the week! On Monday's we get to use all of our creativity and pull content and create marketing plans for our clients!
In 2020, the big trend will actually be a return to the basics. Lisa Buyer, CEO, and Social PR Consultant, The Buyer Group, said that it is no longer enough to provide a service your customer needs. Self-serving social messages won’t cut it in 2020, either. The new mindset is this: The relationship we build with our customers is more important than the products and services we sell them, Buyer said.... Part of the back-to-basics approach to social media means you should step back and think about two things, according to Michael Williams, Senior Social Media Manager, Jellyfish: Who is your audience? What are their interests and challenges? When it comes to creating content, brands need to counteract the social media noise, think ‘less is more,’ and create messaging that actually resonates with their key audience(s), Williams said. That all starts with the connection. People are looking for connections on a personal level with businesses and brands that feel like part of their community, said Mary Davies, President, Beanstalk Internet Marketing. Businesses will need to put more effort than ever into being more of a helpful, understanding ‘friend’ in a community than simply a service/product provider. (Search Engine Journal)
