Enjoying the outdoors in Casa: nature walks, art lessons, and collecting.
Some striking art by Erdkinder students.
Here, Upper El students learn about the life cycle of the tree before embarking on a life cycle ecosystem scavenger hunt. Students had to find trees in each different stage of the life cycle, and also identify the role of each one within its ecosystem at that particular stage. What a way to spend an afternoon!
Scenes from an Erdkinder day, including math work on the whiteboard, seatwork, and a fitness session led by Calum.
We are so lucky that our school’s location affords such wonderful opportunities for outdoor exploration. Don’t these Lower Elementary students look like they’re in heaven?
Erdkinder students had a fantastic day. They used a new knot called the trucker’s hitch and half hitches to hang the archery net and then had their archery introduction. After paddling, they wrapped up the day with fire building, at which everyone was successful.
We hope you're enjoying your long weekend! Here you can see children in Casa enjoying painting pumpkins. Their teacher Sara says, "We thought they might look nice on our Thanksgiving tables."
Outside art lessons for Upper Elementary - following the contours of three different types of leaves.
A productive work period in Lower Elementary.
A student-led highland dance lesson at recess. We love seeing students share their skills!
Yesterday, Erdkinder students enjoyed some disc or soccer golf (even when they had to retrieve their disc from thorn bushes!). Thanks to Kevin Farley for hanging tin on some trees to use as targets.
Casa children exploring in nature this afternoon.
Earlier last week, Erdkinder students worked together to check their understanding of how alcohol affects the body in preparation for a virtual presentation by MADD Canada. During the presentation, they watched a powerful film and will continue discussions next week about how to keep themselves and others safe.
