Kaisa makes incredible work, she works incredibly hard, and she has brought a wonderful positive energy to our community. Featured here is a plinth/cage she makes with a couple of her favourite bottles from my show. She will have her solo show on December 3rd in our Gallery. We are having a membrrs group show at the gallery starting Nov 17th. We are so lucky to have @sisaretsisterhood with us this fall. She will be having her solo show dec 3rd but for now a sneak peak blue mountain mugs I have a beautiful mountain range view from my studio window @nanaimoceramicart. "I’ve been relistening to a great book lately that’s reminding me to acknowledge all of the life around me reminding me that the world is a much lonelier place if we aren’t creati...ng the space for everything around us plant, human, animal, earth to be as alive as us. Without this active reminder shaping the way I look at the world around me, it’s easy to forget but also so so so much fun to be reminded. I’m giggling and talking to everything. Living in the mountains and painting mountains has often made me question its relevance as an iconic representation of these masses of earth that people connect so strongly with. In the worst of times I think painting mountains is cliché, but in the vein of my earlier remark, they are deeply alive, spiritual and humbling. It is no wonder that we feel so in awe that we would paint or want it to be painted in all ways, shapes and forms, throughout history and now, and in my context, on a cup that could be loved and used every day. Maybe it’s an expression of love, a reminder of what they give to us. So, let’s protect and acknowledge, ya? Reposted from @sisaretsisterhood See more
