The sound and streaming upgrades will pause for about a week, while we wait for the cameras to arrive from their supplier. Then they'll be installed, and the sound system configured for the room. So today's post is the final shot of the week: a mostly-assembled sound rack!

Today's update isn't a joke, really! How many priests does it take to shorten the back pew? The rector did as instructed by the honorary assistant as we shortened the back pew to make room for a small table that the monitor screen and camera hardware will sit on. No limbs were lost!

These very fine words were spoken as I received my order of Niagara this afternoon. To know Mr. Derek Smith is to know his exuberance and passion for what ma...tters in life: his family, the TiCats, and serving Jesus. Derek’s diligence and care for the diocese of Niagara are rooted and grounded in his faith. Derek has been an active and involved parishioner from his early youth in Thorold, to Huron, through the time he and his family made their home at Christ’s Church Cathedral, and to their current home at the Nativity. Since becoming the Cathedral Place Property Manager, he has poured hours of effort and love into the ministry he lives out. Going above and beyond his job, he has been a vital part of leading significant improvements and upgrades to the facility. He focuses on ensuring that Cathedral Place makes ministry possible, and that is an accessible, warm, and welcoming place for its many works. Derek’s positivity makes everyone engaged in ministry brighter at the Nativity. Whether it’s waving signs in the cold to invite people in the neighbourhood into the Marketplace, sharing a song with his tenor guitar, making and serving food, reading lessons or assisting with communion, providing hospitality after services and to the marginalized who look to us for help, we rely on him as an inspiring model for what serving in Jesus’ name can look like.
