I WILL KEEP THIS SHORT:) It is getting close to that time to say good bye to Natural Path Fitness & Nutrition. Sincere gratitude to EVERYONE that had a hand in this dream of mine since its conception. Those of you who truly know me, know I have put my blood sweat and A LOT of tears into this business in order to offer Brantford a service I felt it needed.... THANK YOU BRANTFORD AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY FOR THE MOST INCREDIBLE 5.5 years of my life!!!! TIME TO EVOLVE!! I can't tell you how proud and excited I am to blow Brantford and Ontario away with the evolution of NPFN to Functional Patterns Brantford!! The health and fitness industry is slowly but surely moving towards a sustainable and truly functional way of training. Functional Patterns happens to be incredibly advanced to this "functional" type of training and we look forward to showcasing relevant results. Goodbye NPFN...its been a great ride, grateful for every moment:)

Another great session with Ryan today! Making some movement gains with this guy!! Ryan @ryan_c_campbell @thecrewrealestate came to us a very strong man, however very stuck in the sagittal plane in his movement. He had a really tough time rotated his torso keeping a stable neutral pelvis. ... Having shoulder, neck or arm pain? Has anyone been to a health professional with shoulder problems and given instruction on how to incorporate their lats/ pecs/TVA/ glutes into their shoulder rehab routine??? Common problems I encounter with people are sore neck muscles, tennis elbow, sharp shooting pain throughout the arm and frozen shoulder.... When we over use a body part out of its biomechanic context...(use it outside of the range it was made to move). Dysfunctions begin to happen. Dysfunctions happen when some muscles that control the mechanism of the movement become dominant (inactive). Other muscle become too developed and imbalances start to happen and things begin to breakdown and pain sets in. Often I hear professionals address pain at the source. Do you suffer from SCAPULAR WINGING? Looking forward to working with this PGA client over the next couple of months. He comes to us with quite a few issues, I'm sure years of playing professional golf have contributed to.... Addressing his scapular winging... In these 2 video clips you can see how disconnected his shoulder blades are especially when integrating his pecs. Second video clip shows him doing exercises that help him integrate his pecs, romboids trapezuis among many other muscles that help stabilize and move the shoulder as it is bio-mechanically built to move. The plank... This exercise can be a great way to getting people to feel an activated TVA (transverse abdominis). Otherwise known as the corset (series of muscles) that wrap around your spine. Although this is a great tool to use to strengthen and integrate the TVA with the glutes. The ultimate goal is getting people to feel this integration with ground force tension. Such as standing, walking or running.... Rob is well on his way to feeling the full effects of planking. During our training session this morning we worked on providing feedback to his body tweak some spots to really awaken his TVA and maximize his planking experience. My reality check this morning.... One of the many perks to what I do is being able to work with some extraordinary people. I have had the pleasure of personally training one of the most talented agility dog trainers in the business, Susan Garrett, @susangarrrettdogtraining. She brought one of her many talented dogs to her personal training session this morning.... I was immediately taken back by the looks of her beautiful 8 year old border collie named Swagger. I had to verify with Susan that Swagger was actually a border collie. I had been exposed to many many border collies throughout my life but they had all been household pets. They have all been healthy sized pets. I had forgotten what a fit healthy border collie looked like. This really opened my eyes to the fact that we are not only overfeeding ourselves and under exercising but we do it to our pets too!! Seeing how fit, healthy and vital Swagger was during his peek adult years, (56years old in people years) was a real eye opener!! Swagger has been well taken care of all his 8 years on this planet, healthy diet and plenty of exercise. Yes, all the pet dogs I have encountered all my life were well loved and "taken care of". But not like Swagger. We not only make ourselves overweight, we do it to our pets too! RESULTS AFTER PRIMARILY ADDRESSING HIP & BACK PAIN!! Jeff an avid rock climber came to us with some nagging hip and back issues. His initial intend was to address these issues and get himself feeling better.... You can clearly see that not only has Jeff better aligned himself but he has put on muscle mass. Jeff consistently came to us twice a week for a few months doing workouts that consisted of focusing on correcting his bodys' foundation. Zero traditional lifting. He has generally maintain his dietary habits that lets him enjoy life, which includes beer and the odd cheeseburger.
