Why talk about #EnergyEfficiency? Because New Brunswick has earned 27 points out of 100 and received a score of 7th place out of 10 provinces. "New Brunswick is reducing its electricity savings targets from 0.8% of sales to 0.6%. This level is below what was recommended in a 2017 Integrated Resource Plan." In this annual report released by Efficiency Canada,... there are two key areas of improvement for New Brunswick. "Low-to-moderate income energy efficiency: New Brunswick’s level of low-income program spending is equal to $18 per household in energy poverty, while Nova Scotia is spending $121 and PEI spends $215. Building energy codes: The current plan is to adopt the 2015 versions of the model energy codes, yet a 2017 version is available and the 2020 versions will be released soon, which provide a path to move towards net-zero energy-ready buildings by 2030. Why not adopt the most advanced building codes available? (following recommendation # 38 in the province’s climate action plan)."
