This Remembrance Day was a special one for me as I was invited to fly along with the Fraser Blues Formation Flying Team over a few communities near Langley. The... team all fly the same type of aircraft, the North American L-17 Navion. George Miller is the team leader and flying on his right wing was his son, Guy Miller, on his left wing was Ray Roussy and in the slot was Clive Barratt. I hope everyone is doing well, coping with COVID-19 and respecting all the social distancing protocols. Lately we have had great flying weather for training and for pleasure flying in this beautiful province. It’s now seven weeks to go to the Flight Instructor Refresher Course at Abbotsford and everything is coming together for a great course. One interesting aspect of having the course at Abbotsford is being able to fly with Westjet from many locations across Canada, directl...y to the course being held at Airside Event Spaces within walking distance of the terminal. Our next Flight Instructor Refresher Course will take place on October 6, 7 and 8, 2020. Due to COVID-19, our original venue has changed from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Langley, B.C. to the Abbotsford International Airport at the facilities of Airside Event Spaces. The venue is quite large and has the normal capacity for banquet seating up to 200. This new location has the advantage of you being able to fly directly to the course from other airports in British Columbi...a or other locations in Canada. If you are travelling to B.C. from another province or territory within Canada, you are expected to follow the same travel guidelines as everyone else in B.C. and travel safely and respectfully. If you are travelling from B.C. to another province, please check with that province for travel restrictions or guidance in place that may affect your return. . I have been taking photos of aircraft and aviation events for many years and lately have been displaying and sharing them on Facebook. That seemed to work OK but was not the best solution. I explored many different options for photo storage and sharing, including the many available on-line services, but the best solution was to create my own website. Today I would like to share with you my new website www.navpathimaging.com. Please take a look and browse through the pages to ...see photos mainly of airshows and aviation events in the area. The structure of the site is built but several pages still need to be populated with the images. The will be added in the next few days and weeks. So why today for launching this website? CANCELLED - Flight Instructor Refresher Course scheduled for October 6, 7 and 8, 2020. I have been informed by Kwantlen Polytechnic University Langley Campus that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, KPU is adhering to both Provincial Health Officer directives and WorkSafe BC regulations and so are unable to accommodate on-campus events regardless of the number of participants until the end of December. They will not be taking any new event requests for the foreseeable future. Next year I anticipate having two courses, March and October, hopefully at Kwantlen Polytechnic University Langley Campus. This website will be updated as soon as further information is available.

Transport Canada now allowing certain skill tests to be valid for 18 months.

Last week we had quite a large course at Cloverdale, mostly junior flight instructors. I am always very pleased with the guest speakers who provide a high level of professional development with their enhancement to the course.

COVID-19 Update on Transport Canada Aviation Medical Certificates The Minister of Transport has issued an exemption on March 17, 2020, to CAR 404.06, extending ...the validity of the current medical certificate until August 1st. Two weeks today we will be at Kwantlen University in Cloverdale for the Flight Instructor Refresher Course. There's only a handful of seats remaining and a couple are already spoken for. We are three weeks from the Flight Instructor Refresher Course commencing March 10 and have to do a little rescheduling. The response from the aeroplane instructors has been pretty good, however the helicopter industry has not embraced the course, and the response from the helicopter instructors has been very limited. The number of helicopter instructors that have registered for the course is insufficient for that portion to proceed. As of today, the Flight Instructor Refres...her Course commencing March 10, 2020 will be for aeroplane instructors only. The course will be shortened to two and a half days, commencing at 08:30 on Tuesday and finishing at noon on Thursday.
