Mayor Mike's Local Stuff It challenge, in support of Shelter Nova Scotia, was successful in raising over 16000 dollars at auction. None of this could have been possible without the support of all of the participating BID's and everyone who bid on the items available for a good cause. Thank you to anyone who shared, donated, bid in auction or told a friend. For anyone looking to further support Shelter Nova Scotia this season there are a variety of ways to do so : https://www.shelternovascotia.com/

As of today, business owners can apply for new support measures. If you own a small business, run a charity, or operate a non-profit that has suffered a drop in revenue because of the pandemic, the new Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy is there to help you. It will cover up to 65% of your rent, and will now come directly to you - not through your landlord. If your business is facing a public health lockdown order, more assistance is available for you - the new Lockdown Support co...uld boost your rent subsidy by 25%. Combined with the regular rent assistance, hard-hit businesses could receive a rent subsidy of up to 90%. On top of this support, the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy has been extended until June of next year. So if you need help keeping your employees on the payroll during these tough times, this support remains available to you. To learn more about what’s available and how you can apply, click here: https://www.canada.ca//depart/economic-response-plan.html See more

Public Service Announcement Gottingen St. and Russell St. - Wastewater System Maintenance Insituform Technologies, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be undertaking trenchless wastewater system rehabilitation work Saturday, November 14th on Gottingen Street and Russell Street in Halifax.... This work will take place at the intersection of Gottingen Street and Russell Street from 7:00AM - 7:00PM on Saturday. There will be lane drops and stop and go traffic in the work zone. See the attached work zone map. Sidewalk access will be maintained. Trenchless/CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of ageing underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with a resin and then steam cured. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic and residents than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work. There will be no loss of water, wastewater or stormwater services. Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow around the work zone. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones. For the safety of work crews and residents, please maintain social/physical distancing requirements of at least 2 metres/6 feet.

Heads-up...Effective January 1, 2021, the Government of Canada will remove legal tender status from some older bank notes that are no longer produced - the $1, $2, $25, $500 and $1,000 notes. Here's what you need to know. Legislative amendments were made following an announcement on legal tender in the federal government's 2018 budget. These changes allow the government to remove legal tender status from the $1, $2, $25, $500 and $1,000 bank notes. In short, this means that these notes are no longer approved for payments of debt, and may not be accepted in transactions.
