The first Annual Silver Birch Court Halloween was a tremendous success. Our friends and neighbours from Robin Hood Association got dressed up and trick-or-treated as well and held a karaoke party. The building was alive with activity, laughter and cleverly disguised children and adults. Gratitude once again for volunteers James, Murla, Michaela, and Geoff for your help with set up/display and handing out candy, leaving a quarter of the candy we started courtesy of Little Philanthropic Inc.

The previous Community dinner took place while I was vacationing in Mexico so I don’t have any pictures. Steven and Shay really knocked it out of the park serving Papa Murphy’s pizza, Little Caesars crazy bread, and can of pop, courtesy of Neighbourhood Investment Group, Little Philanthropic Inc. and an eclectic group of volunteers. This month in lieu of dinner we’re celebrating Halloween with some tasteful decorations and candy being distributed by volunteer tenants in the lobby and our trick-or-treat bat campaign so the tenants, trick-or-treaters and Halloween meet. From our neighbourhood to yours may our kids have a safe and happy Halloween

Another successful community dinner served 56 plates prepared and served by an eclectic group of volunteers from Silver Birch Court named Shaylyn, Steven, James and myself. I love you, yes all of you for attending this expression of loving kindness. Continued gratitude to Sherwood Park Adult Day program for the facilities, Heartland Housing for the beautiful building that we live and served in. My hopes are to see this continue as a monthly event.

Gratitude for all of your loving kindness . Update: My hiking friend got the job! As it turns out he was living in a van in the Rona Parking lot with two friends. One of his friends is looking for temporary work for a week to raise the money for gas in the van so he can get to his full-time job. The other is looking for regular and full-time work. Share this story in the event someone can help these two find gainful employment. I added $10 to their tank, and showed them to John Howard Society, 10 minute intake and they were eating lunch and house by the Matt program. Probably for the first time today. Tomorrow I meet Jani at John Howard 6 AM to drive him to his first day at work. Life is beautiful! Live and love notoriously.
