We honor all artists but especially want to thank and honor those here at Nelson Monuments. Our talented designers create monument designs to help families envision the perfect individualized memorial to honor their loved ones. Our amazing Stone Craftsman, whose art is taking a slab of granite and carving it into a beautiful monument, create touching tributes to ...a lives lost. These artists work hard to create their work. They add beauty to the world around us, offer a connection to the past and tell a story in stone which provides immeasurable comfort to grieving families. Thank you for sharing your art with us. Tomorrow, October 15 is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day which offers a day of remembrance to parents, family, and friends for pregnancy loss and infant death. Pregnancy loss and infant death may include but are not limited to miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, or the death of a newborn. Since 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss, many families know the grief of this kind of loss. It’s often not spoken about, and yet, those who mourn often need support and understandi...ng. The experience is painful and sometimes overwhelming. This October 15 please extend your remembrance, support, understanding, compassion and love to someone you know who has experienced this particularly devastating loss. We never know when our small gesture or act of kindness can make a major impact on another person. It may be exactly what they need.

Tomorrow, September 22nd, is National Centenarian Day which honors those who’ve celebrated 100 birthdays or more. For those of us lucky enough to have a centenarian in our life we already know their rich history and wisdom offers a wealth of information. They represent a living history full of stories not found in history books. Their stories animate and compliment what we already know. Listening to their tales of accomplishment and perseverance highlight and magnify the ev...ents of the past. At the same time, their personal histories create something legendary for those who hear them. Traditions we no longer practice or turns of phrase come traipsing across their memories to be revived and shared once more. Tribulations and experiences long forgotten reflect in their eyes. We benefit from every story they tell and every remembrance they share.

The day provides an opportunity to show our appreciation for the dedication, accomplishments, and services that Seniors give throughout their lives. Their wealth of knowledge, skill, and experience offer so much to the next generation. As technologies advance, these are the people who’ve experienced each step of change. Not only have they contributed to it, but they understand first hand the benefits and the drawbacks. They know life without the advancements that exist today. So this Friday, spend some time making some memories with a special Senior in your life. Or spend some time remembering and honoring the achievements of a special senior who may no longer be with us. Those memories are so precious.
