The Kootenay Contraption Contest is back! This annual GLOWS event invites students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 to imagine, design, and illustrate a contraption that solves a problem. ... For this year’s GLOWS Kootenay Contraption Contest, we challenge individual students and entire classes to come up with the most creative, most imaginative contraption they can dream up to solve this challenge: Think about a challenge you’re facing at school or homeschool. Create a contraption to overcome this problem so that students/educators of the future won’t have the same challenge. NEW! Educator’s Edition commitment to enriching education has been inspiring to witness so we thought, what better year to introduce the Educator’s Edition of the Kootenay Contraption Contest! We want your ideas and encourage you to enter contraptions that support students OR educators. RULES: Entries must be received by 4PM PST on November 20, 2020 Contraptions must solve the problem using Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Math. A written description that explains how your contraption solves the problem is mandatory. Digital media is accepted and must be emailed with an entry form. If you have any questions about your contraption idea or entry during the contest period, you can email [email protected] with the subject line: Question regarding Kootenay Contraption Contest. Amazing prizes up for grabs! To learn more or enter visit www.kast.com/kcc
SMRT1 Founder @Brad Pommen is passionate about inspiring children with technology, so much so that 10 years ago he started a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineer...ing and Math) club right here in the Kootenays. In fact that is how the idea for SMRT1 started; while our product has come a long way since then, Brad continues to find ways to engage and support youth. This week is #earthscienceweek, take time to appreciate our Earth and inspire all children to explore the possibilities of STEM and help SMRT1 create future generations of innovators. #smrt1tech #stem #innovation

10 years ago, Brad Pommen started the NTC in cooperation with great local supporters. As our membership grew to over 500 community members, the idea for SMRT1 Technologies Ltd was born out of demand. For the past 3.5 years, the company has developed the SMRT1 POD into a platform to manage products, media and content for the next wave of retail with our interactive vending solutions. SMRT1 was pioneered at the NTC, and protyped at MIDAS. This company was built in the Kootenays... with numerous friends and family investors. Now, we invite our community to share in this exciting venture by investing as little as $500. Visit this link for more info: http://www.frontfundr.com/smrt1/
