To make sense of our complex environments, incl. social interactions, brain circuits actively make physiological adjustments to better anticipate & predict the nature & timing of external stimulations. In this new paper, we propose & show empirical evidence for the Dynamic-Insertion model of multimodal sensory perception, as one new piece to complete that puzzle. https://www.nature.com/articles/s42003-021-02087-0

Welcoming Dr. Alex Wiesman to the lab, as an National Institutes of Health (NIH) F32 Post-Doctoral Fellow! Alex received his B.S. in neuroscience from the University of Nebraska - Omaha, where he studied retinal electrophysiology with Wallace Thoreson, before pursuing graduate education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. At UNMC Alex worked with Tony Wilson using magnetoencephalography (MEG) to study visuospatial processing and visual attention in health and in ne...urodegenerative disorders. His postdoctoral work with Sylvain Baillet at the Montreal Neurological Institute will use functional neuroimaging and clinical data to investigate neural interactions between attention and somato-motor systems in patients with Parkinson's disease. In his free time, Alex uses travel as an excuse to eat great food in exotic places, is an avid home cook, and likes to read sci-fi and write poetry.
