Today our Founder and Director Emeritus, Dan Kapp hits the big 64! We wish him all the best as he celebrates his birthday with family and friends during the pandemic. We are so thankful that you always had the vision to create a New Horizons Band in Toronto and brought so many people into the fold. Thank you Dan!

MONDAY MUSICAL NOTE: I thought this would be a fitting photo for this week's 'Warm-up and Cool Down for Low Brass' Music Workshop on Thurs. Nov 19 at 7:30 pm. You will learn practical tips and tricks for making your instruments sound the best they can. Presented by Charles Ortega, the principal tubist for the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra, this workshop will focus on the low brass instruments. MONDAY MUSICAL NOTE: Today's photo reminded me of our first Transposition/Arranging class this past week. It is important to be conscious of comfortable ranges for the instruments otherwise your players will feel like this brass section! We now have a month under our belts offering courses to our members and by all reactions, it is going very well! If you missed out this time, be sure to check the web-site for new courses coming in January. Our very popular "MUSIC FOR LIFE..." series will be presenting Canadian conductor Melanie Leonard who will speak about experiences, challenges and approach when conducting TBSO and symphonic bands. She will talk about her philosophy of life and hot it motivates her continual learning. Check out Melanie's bio: https://www.melanieleonard.ca/biography. This session is presented with the joint support of #NHBT and Resa's Pieces. Thursday Nov 12 at 7:30 pm And an interesting fact...did you know that in 2018, out of 50 busiest world conductors, only 3 were women? Here's an interesting article to check out about the slow road to equality for women: https://www.billboard.com//8545/women-conductors-classical #yourbestisgoodenough #itsnevertoolate #Covid19NewNormal #aimforawesome #musicforlife #itsnevertoolate
