Tradition cracking of the eggs!

! ! Kalo Pascha! Happy Greek Easter! Our residents and staff had so much fun celebrating the holiday with Greek coffee and Tsoureki - three-braided Easter bread signifying the Holy Trinity. We continued traditional game, Tsougrisma, with our red eggs (kokkina avga). Easter eggs are dyed red to represent the blood of Christ, with further symbolism being found in the hard shell of the egg symbolizing the sealed Tomb of Christ Christos Anesti !! the cracking of which symbolized his resurrection from the dead. The person who successfully cracks both ends of their opponent's egg is declared the winner and will have good luck during the year! Alithos anesti!!

Last month we started small group programs, this involved maintaining social distancing, everyone wearing a mask and only bringing residents together from the same Team.

Nisbet has been chosen to take part in the Seniors Can Connect Ipad Program. 5 of our residents will be taking part in the program for the next 4 months. Seniors Can Connect! The COVID-19 pandemic has cast a spotlight on the painful reality of senior isolation and loneliness in Canada and shown the pressing need to empower seniors as digital citizens on an ongoing basis. Digital literacy and access to technology are critical for seniors to connect with community and ensure a...ccess to basic needs like food, banking and medicine. Many barriers however prevent older people from adopting technology. The Seniors Can Connect! Program is designed to help seniors overcome these barriers, build confidence, and learn the digital skills necessary for today’s technological world.

Attention Calvary Church! This Thursday(TOMORROW) we are doing a "Drive-By Encouragement for Nisbet Lodge/McClintock Manor" -When are we meeting? Tomorrow (Thu...rsday, May 28) at 10:15 a.m. -Where are we gathering with our vehicles? East York Community Centre, 1081 1/2 Pape Avenue (Look for Gary Cockburn and Pastor Daniel with orange parking vests). -Can we decorate our vehicles or make signs? Yes please do. -Here are some guidelines from our Toronto Police Community Officer: 1. Make sure everyone in the vehicle has their seatbelt on. 2. No hanging out of windows or standing out of sunroofs. 3. Drivers, pay attention to those on bicycles or on foot. 4. Obey all traffic signals. And have fun! Get your passengers to smile, wave and cheer loudly with your windows down as you honk your horns. See you tomorrow!
