Hello hello!! We’ve just arrived in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia today. You know what that means? We’re almost done! We booked our ferry ride to Newfoundland today during our lunch stop in Antigonish, so if all goes well, we’ll be cruising across the Atlantic Ocean this Wednesday. We’re taking the long ferry (the 17-hour marathon) to Argentia, Newfoundland. We passed on the luxurious option of getting a cabin, but hopefully we’ll still manage to sleep on the ride. ... So..... if anyone happens to be hanging around St. John’s this Thursday, keep an eye, or better yet, two eyes open for two very exhausted cyclists pedalling their way to the Eastern shore line. We may look a little lopsided, as both our right knees are feeling a little rusty. We think our bodies are sensing the end, so they decided to throw one more challenge our way. Though, it’s a good thing we still have our left legs, because they’ve been logging some extra sweat equity these past two days. Thank you so much to our most recent donors as well. Tonight is our last night in New-Brunswick. We saw this really massive Acadian flag dancing with the wind today during our ride just before arriving in Rexton. We cycled 150km today. Tomorrow we’ll be cycling our way into Nova-Scotia. Crazy, right? Already another province. It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the Eastern finish line. Lorraine & Raymond Lagacé have been married for 56 years. Their love for each other is extremely inspirational and unconditional. Nick’s pépère was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2013 and his mémère has been by his side 8 hours a day for 7 days a week since his diagnosis. She puts his care far above her own. Love is a powerful thing. And at times, it’s a very difficult thing too. We had an incredible visit with them, and we’re very happy to be raising awareness and funds for such an awful disease. Visiting him brought this whole ride into perspective for us.
