In September 2020, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, Child Welfare League of Canada, Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada, Duke... of Edinburgh’s Award, Experiences Canada, Girl Guides, JA Canada, Navy League of Canada, Pathways to Education, Students Commission of Canada , United Nations Association in Canada, and the YMCA Canada (members of the National Youth Serving Agencies, NYSA), commissioned Abacus Data to conduct a nationally representative survey with 1,000 Canadian youth aged 15 to 30. We sought to understand the impacts and perspectives of the pandemic thus far for youth in Canada and explore their ideas for recovery. As youth continue to navigate through this world disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, it will be important to provide them with opportunities to re-engage with employment, education and social connections. Young people are aware of the challenges ahead and want to be an active part of solutions. They need more tools and supports, and opportunities to connect with each other to strengthen their efforts. A large majority of young people (85%) believe youth serving agencies have a role in helping them achieve this. The Navy League of Canada supports almost 10,000 youth in 300 communities across Canada by offering youth programming at low or no cost. These programs connect youth to their communities, and teach them valuable life skills that prepare them for their futures including teamwork, communication, collaboration, problem-solving and creative thinking. Together, we can make sure Canada's youth will #BounceBackBetter Find out more at COVID-19 & Canadian Youth: Impacts, Perspectives & the Recovery https://abacusdata.ca//11/NYS-Youth-Survey-Final-Report.pdf presents the full findings of the survey.

Did you know that the way that we handle attraction and recruitment of cadets and officers has changed? With the updated shared responsibilities of the new MOU..., recruitment and attraction are now responsibilities of the Canadian Armed Forces. This decision was made by the request of the Cadet Leagues. Although the CAF is leading the initiatives, in accordance with the MOU, Cadet Leagues can support these initiatives by paying for printing of CAF created posters and materials, engage with non-CAF agencies to schedule CAF-led presentations; and to support CAF managed attraction and recruitment information on social media, websites, etc. For more information make sure you following the following pages Army Cadet League of Canada - La Ligue des cadets de l'Armée du Canada Air Cadet League of Canada / Ligue des cadets de l'Air du Canada COATS & Volunteers / SAIOC & bénévoles The Navy League of Canada, the Army Cadet League of Canada and the Air Cadet League of Canada are national federally incorporated not-for-profit organizations willing to support Cadets and Cadet Corps and Squadrons in specific key areas, as requested by the CAF. For many decades, the CAF has benefitted from the support of the Cadet Leagues. The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to formalize the shared roles and responsibilities of the CAF and the Cadet Leagues, in support of Cadets, Corps, and Squadrons, and the consultative arrangements for executing those roles and responsibilities.
