Some updates to the NRCC.... We commissioned this beautiful bench from E&G Welding. The back displays the first few bars of Oh Canada. There is new flooring throughout the building. Thanks to the Town for the $30 k in flooring in the foyer and auditorium; carpet squares and some plank hard surface to catch some of the dirt from stairwell traffic...and our group purchased the plank flooring for the stairs, green room and dressing rooms which was just over 12k. ... Feels great to have pretty much all of our to do list accomplished! Now to think of some live music concerts that fit with Co-vid rules.....if anyone has any ideas, please share them with us!! The red CDA bins are full and are not going to be emptied as there are no collections during the pandemic. PLEASE do not leave items on the ground around the bins. As soon as the bins are functional again, there will be a post. Thanks Stay Safe

PLEASE NOTE..... March 23, 2020 Dear Valued Partner,... As part of Diabetes Canada’s ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of our valued donors, staff, partners, and communities, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily suspend the activities of National Diabetes Trust our clothing and textile collection organization. The pick-up of ALL textile donations from homes, partners and the donation bins across Canada have stopped, effective immediately. Due to the impact of COVID-19 and the suspension of our services, we have also had to make the extremely hard decision to temporarily lay-off our staff. We have made this news public and are notifying donors directly, in some cases, as well as through our website and social media channels. We are urging our donors not to drop off items at our donation bins during our temporary suspension of services. We hope that the public will be respectful and not leave items outside of donation bins. As a valued host of our donation bins, we greatly appreciate your continued support and patience during these difficult times. If you should see extreme dumping please email [email protected] With a full closure and lay off, we are in an emergency situation and we will do what we can to alleviate any issues as they arise. We appreciate your patience in these unprecedented times. At Diabetes Canada, our goal, as always, is to support those living with diabetes and prediabetes and to make a positive impact in our local communities. We rely on your generous charitable clothing donations as a crucial source of revenue that supports diabetes research, sends kids with Type 1 to diabetes camp and sustains our efforts to end the fight against diabetes. Additionally, more than 100 million pounds of textiles are diverted from landfill annually. We will keep you apprised of our return to operations as it happens. Please also visit declutter.diabetes.ca for updates. Our thoughts are with you and those in your community. Please take care of yourselves and one another.
