Precarious labour is present in all areas and post-secondary education is no exception. This series is an opportunity to learn about issues related to historians in precarious situations and is inspired by the Precarious Historical Instructors’ Manifesto (linked below). https://activehistory.ca//precarious-historical-instructo/
It’s Time !!!
Today the Conservative government came with a four year plan to make Time to Care Act law... we don’t know if it will be regulated or legislated... problem one If four year that mean they want to get re-elected 2022 do we believe in there promise I say No We already went down that road with Liberal three time and we are still waiting.... why make the seniors of today suffer for the next 4 years I say make it law NOW... ... Once it’s law we will see less sick time , less workplace incident, less WSIB , Residents will see the difference and there will be more respect and dignity for the seniors See more

People living in long-term care deserve the finest standard of care and they deserve it now!
North Bay & District Labour Council Vice President, Jared Hunt, brought a cheque for $5000 to the North Bay Food Bank this afternoon. These funds were made possible through the support of the Labour community! Imagine what we can do if we continue to work together for progress!
This quote is from today's episode of The Current (CBC): Matt Galloway: The next time you need to go to a hospital. How will this affect you? Will you think di...fferently about going to a hospital now? Alice Echaquan: I don’t want to go back in this hospital. Never. And in my heart. Never. https://www.cbc.ca//relatives-experts-call-for-accountabil When people say racism kills, this is one of the ways. When people cannot have access to safe reliable healthcare services, it creates inequitable health outcomes. https://www.cihi.ca/en/health-inequalities The Truth and Reconciliation Call to Action #24 has been available since 2015. When will we see widespread implementation?
The federal government is taking steps in the right direction, but there’s still work to be done to disaster-proof our social safety net before the next crisis. We’ve got their ear now - so let’s keep the conversation going. Connect with your local elected officials to make sure the Throne Speech is more than words. Let's make sure we can all move #ForwardTogether Canadian Labour Congress - Congrès du travail du Canada
Overall, the announcements made in the throne speech are good news for our community and workers across the country - but it's only the start. We have to maintain the pressure in order to make sure commitments to Indigenous communities, racialized communities, workers, and families are more than just words! #ForwardTogether Canadian Labour Congress - Congrès du travail du Canada
Logan Staats is here in North Bay virtual Pride 2020!
Labour Day was different this year but it still had a big impact! We are thrilled to announce that by working together, the labour community was able to contribute $11,425 to area food banks! Our work does not stop here. The pandemic is showing us that people are being left behind. Today we're asking you to take action and add your voice to a call for better jobs to replace those that have been lost. Follow the link to send an email to your MP/MPP: https://canadianplan.ca/better-jobs/add-your-voice/
How we got the Rand formula
The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated just how essential child care is for working families in our community. It is clear there can be no economic recovery without high-quality, accessible, affordable, public child careit supports women in the job market, but is also an important source of employment for women and an economic driver itself. Let's let the Federal government know that we want child care to be a priority! Follow the link below to connect with your MP: https://canadianplan.ca/disaster-proof-canada/send-a-letter/
My hat is off to the Sudbury District Labour Council Council for organizing another wonderful #LabourDay in #Sudbury! #SolidarityForever
