Messing about with leather sheaths for essential bushcraft and outdoors gear. Bacho folding saws are carried by loads of outdoorsman as a quick and easy way to remove fallen trees and debris and clear out camps quick, build shelters etc. Still fine tuning the design, but this is close to what we're after. @wickettandcraig 7oz. Vegetable Tanned leather, nice and flexible. Wet molded with a welt. We may remove the welt as it's not necessary with a folding saw and ads bulk but time will tell. Second row of stitching at the stress points and a large belt loop. This leather choice should patina well over time. Functional, purpose built and handmade and stitched all the way
A dozen down and only 150 more to go. Dreams become projects and suddenly a year goes by. Here's to those that don't quit, that struggle on, whose fingers bleed and who want to tell Leather to fuck off.....but never do.
Back at ‘er. Time to hammer down
Loved by a set of hands, burnished, waxed, rubbed. Selecting only the best, carefully looking over the @hermannoakleather English Bridle for that one perfect section. Located and stripped out, holes punched and rivets slammed. Everything coming together. Spanning a width of 1.5 inches, this rigid 12 oz. leather is ready for a new home.....to the forest we go.

Into the wee hours of the night, strap cutting, measuring, fitting. A nice load of belts soon to be completed. Years of use ahead, we look forward to seeing a nice patina form on this @hermannoakleather "Hartigo" straps. A good ratio of temper and waxy oils, this stuff has been a joy to work with. Time to buckle these up and get them out to some bushcrafters for testing in the north woods.
Back to the grind, the supple goodness of buttery leather once again running through our hands. Belt making on the brain now, simple, rugged, functional. Built to last through a lifetime of memories and adventures. This design will get tweaked, but the @hermannoakleather Old World Harness Leather that anchors this sucker should stand the test of time.....
Simple in design, purpose built and ready for a lifetime of adventures. Super excited to work with @alexisoutdoors on this leather knife sheath for her gorgeous @virtusknives. Hermann Oak 9 oz. veg tan was the leather of choice on this one and we're pleased with how it turned out. If any of you are into the outdoors and bushcraft, check out @alexisoutdoors on Insta or on her Youtube channel. She's the real deal. @ Kelowna, British Columbia
Saddle stitching my way to hell....or late into the night anyways. Saturday evening's, Sunday mornings, it all blends together these days. Get'er done!
Organized chaos.....what's your bench look like? Friday vibes..
The last one! My hands are officially raw, but all the bushcraft axe masks are stitched up and ready to head out the door now. That was a fun 2 days of cutting, riveting and stitching leather for the Gransfors Bruks Swedish Forest and Small Forest axes. Some with Veg Tan, some with Latigo, all with a lot of love. Now to celebrate with another beer! Enjoy your Thursday everyone.
Only some needle and stitch work now. Not bad for the 7AM grind. Fingers will crack and bleed today, bout time I built up some calluses anyways. The Neil is still playing in the house, original acoustic version of The Old Laughing Lady haunting my hallway. Today is a good day...
Let'er rip! Leather flying through the shop, Neil Young blasting and halfway through a case of beer....oh and almost done this batch of axe masks too. Good times!
Moving right along, 6 axe masks glued, only 6 more to go. Pounding it out now and loving my @ks_blade_punch. Efficiently moving through the process a heck of a lot quicker than before. These irons push right through like it's butter. Anyways, no more Bourbon, onto the Beer diet now.
Leather cut, piled up and ready to go. First this coffee will have to be replaced with Bourbon though. It's the only proper way to rid myself of these Covid blues. A dozen axe masks should be ready to ship today, depending on the Bourbon of course. Enjoy your day everyone!
Hands raw, leather cut, hardware pulled and we're ready to rock. Repetition is the order of the day, but then having a process and sticking to it is a recipe for success. Another bourbon down the hatch, that warm kiss working through my body. Enjoy what's left of the day everyone.
Day drinking the Corona blues away. Funny how the smell of Bourbon blends so well with leather! What day is it?
Into the wee hours of the morning, the lamps shining over the bench. Working new leather designs for knives and axes. Continuing with the outdoors theme and loving the subtle differences between the tanneries. @wickettandcraig and @hermannoakleather. Pour another glass, down the hatch it goes and pumping the John Fogerty. Covid nights are the new normal for my leather hustle.
Hustling on the axe masks today. Good tunes in the shop, working on down the line. Precise cuts on quality leather, a perfect match for the Gransfors Bruks they'll soon be matched with. Slowly working along, living our best Covid life. Enjoy your evening folks. @ Kelowna, British Columbia
Just patiently waiting for the world to go back to normal....a thousand stitches later and ten thousand more to go. Learning the intricacies of veg tan these days. Different tanneries, weights and finishes. All another chapter in the big book of knowledge we're all reading. 9 oz @wickettandcraig veg tan. Nice and dense, pain in my ass to work with but the results are amazing.
So ridiculously satisfying to send out much loved leather goods with a mark that represents who we are and everything we do. Passion and attention to detail are what count. Enjoy the evening folks!
Another wallet ready to leave the nest. Off to it's forever home, this special leather offering should age and perform well. If only we could see the patina years from now. Instead we'll have to settle for pumping out more one of a kind offerings to be used by those that appreciate the finer things in life.
Just another @wickettandcraig leather sheath heading out the door to live a good life in the forest. This ones off to a special friend, @blackwaterbushcraft to wrap a special @officialfallkniven F1 he’s had for awhile. Use it well brother. Happy Friday everyone!
Classic lines. Timeless in function and form. Leather that’s just meant to work, do it’s job and be treated well. Colour matters not. Construction matters greatly. For it’s in those moments when attention to detail is at its height, when slow deliberate movements and cuts begin to show the true worth of a piece...this is what matters most. Happy Wednesday everyone. Be safe out there. Original Fallkniven F1, convex grind. A beast!!
