NKL PLAYOFF FORMAT After tonight's games, the regular season will end. We will divide nine of you into teams of three, according to your points-per-week average, and those three teams will compete over the next three weeks as follows: APRIL 3: Team 1 vs Team 2... APRIL 10: Team 2 vs Team 3 APRIL 17: Team 1 vs Team 3 Each game will consist of four rounds. The first three rounds will be solo songs with every member of your team singing. The fourth will be a duet, with two members from your team. Points will be awarded to your team as follows: - For every judge that awards a win to a singer or duet from your team, your team gets 1 point. -For every round where the singer or duet from your team wins the best-of-three judges against the other team, your team gets 1 point. - If your team wins the game (3 out of 4 rounds), your team gets 2 points. - If your team ties the game (2 out of four rounds), your team gets 1 point. - For every singer or duet that sings a song in that week's theme, your team gets 1 point. - For every singer on the team that orders a food item, your team gets 1 point. The team that accumulates the most points over the three weeks of round-robin will win the $1,000 prize.

WEEK 14 REPORT... So, we are down to the last week of regular season! After tonight, I will do one double check of all weeks of scoring to make sure my math has been right, then we will award the regular season winner her $250 prize next week to kick of the playoffs! In the brackets are weeks participated, wins-losses, and total points (including any bonus points, points-per-week average). The points-per-week average will be used to determine which playoff team you are on. This will even out the teams. 1. Sherry-Lou (13, 21-5, 196, 15.08) 2. Hailey (11, 16-6, 131, 11.91) 3. Kate (1, 0-1, 1, 1.0) * -- Kennedy appointed Leno as her substitute in week 3, and her record reflects what happened in those two games. NOTE: All point totals include bonuses for ordering food items at Sideways. POINT SYSTEM: A reminder of how scoring works in the NKL. Every game you win you get 3 pts, and every game you lose you get 1 pt. Every judge that picks you as the winner in either game is worth 1 pt. So your minimum just for showing up and singing is 2 pts. (lose two games, no judges declare you the winner), and the maximum is 12 pts. (All three judges pick you as the winner of both games, and you win both). Then you also get your food and other bonuses. So even if you don't think you can win, come on out! You can still gain points and get on a team to win a share of the $1,000! NEXT WEEK'S THEMES: From now on, we will have open theme weeks, but there will be one theme that will give a bonus. This week's theme is... TRANSPORTATION -- The song title or artist name must have something to do with any form of transportation. Should be fun! - If you bring a friend to join the NKL, you will get a 10 point bonus and we will qualify them for the playoffs. - In the playoffs, there will be no themes. However, the playoff format will be laid out in a post on the Facebook page immediately following this post. - Remember if you order any food item, you will get five bonus points, and this applies to every week of the NKL. The bonus points will be different for playoffs, but still there. That's it for this week. FYI, because of the few weeks of no NKL, I am pushing the start of the playoffs back to begin on April 3 instead of next week, and run them for three weeks. Format to be posted tomorrow.

As an FYI to all league members, I had a message from one member who might not be able to make it until 8-ish this week. She should know Wednesday afternoon. If she cannot make it for 7:30, we will start regular karaoke at 7:00-7:30 instead of the league, and start the league when she gets there. We'll consider the regular karaoke a "warm-up round" for the rest of us. ;)

Just spoke to Eva, and due to the weather, once again we've decided to cancel. It stinks that this keeps happening on Wednesdays, but Mother Nature just refuses to cooperate. Back at it next Wednesday, with this week's themes repeated!

Almost ready to go with the NKL tonight...all we're waiting for is YOU! It's an open theme night, so there's no excuses! :D

Just a reminder we are back in action with the NKL tomorrow night! No themes, but if you sing a duet you will get 5 bonus points, and if you sing a song with anything to do with good weather in the title or artist, you will get 5 bonus points. Also, just a quick note that I will be taking over DJ duties this Saturday night at Sideways! Come on out, and Eva has convinced me to bring along my microphones in case anybody wants to sing as well. :) It will be a bit more of a DJ/Karaoke mix, but there will be plenty of opportunities to sing. 9pm-1am Saturday!

Due to the weather, and the fact that I'm still not sure if my wife is going to be safe driving home from work in Whitby, I have spoken with Eva and we have cancelled the NKL again this week. Next week, we will (weather permitting) be back at it, and it will be an open theme week with five bonus points for singing songs with something to do with good weather in either the title or artist name, and five bonus points for singing a duet (ten if it happens to be both!) After th...at, we will then have the themes we were supposed to have last week; Celine Dion, Classic Rock, and Dead Legends. Then we will do a week where we draw themes that nobody chose the first time they were themes. Sorry about this! We'll be back at it as soon as the weather allows us to be.
