Craig found the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen in the cast of "Les Miserables"... https://northumberlandplayers.ca/the-most-amazing-gift-a-g/
It's Valentine's Week, so that means theatre love stories! From 5 words and one misread facial expression to inseparable within the span of one night https://northumberlandplayers.ca/she-will-always-be-my-lea/
Trains, geese, bells... the Capitol Theatre Port Hope has some competing noises that generally we try to keep out of the theatre during a performance... https://northumberlandplayers.ca/honk-grant-coward/
This was pretty much dumpster diving for props. Where is the strangest place you've found a prop or set piece? https://northumberlandplayers.ca/this-old-boat-we-found-it/
Just a quick message from our president, Jack Boyagian, to wish you all a happy holiday! https://youtu.be/uHMhYF-lmLE
Gather the family around, tune that dial, and enjoy some holiday spirit on Northumberland 89.7 FM Small Town Radio this Christmas! 89.7 will be re-broadcasting some of our holiday radio plays from the last few years on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Get all the details at https://northumberlandplayers.ca/holiday-radio-plays/
Many of you will have fond memories of Christmas magic happening in the Firehall, whether you were in the audience, on stage, or back stage. What is your most memorable Christmas theatre moment? https://northumberlandplayers.ca/holiday-magic-at-the-fire/
In "Miracle on 34th Street", Fred Gailey says, "look Doris, someday you're going to find that your way of facing this realistic world just doesn't work. And when you do, don't overlook those lovely intangibles. You'll discover those are the only things that are worthwhile." Matt Kowalyk has found some of those intangibles as part of the Players. Matt reflects on making friends, making art, and making memories. https://northumberlandplayers.ca/christmas-from-the-stage-/
With Covid restrictions, how to best send off two valuable long time members of the Players? Organize a drive by parade of cars full of well-wishers! Today, Chris and Christine Sharp were sent off in style by many members of the Players. We wish them all the best, and we will certainly miss them! Thanks to organizers Kaye Torrie and Grant Coward for putting together this wonderful event.

If you're familiar with "Cabaret", you probably know "It Couldn't Please Me More" - the pineapple song! Jan Crane recalls a funny moment in rehearsal for the 2012 production of "Cabaret" in today's Stage Stories Scrapbook entry. https://northumberlandplayers.ca/a-coconut-for-me-jan-crane/
If you think we do good stuff, please vote for us in the northumberlandnews.com Readers’ Choice Awards 2020. The whole company and the youth theatre program have been nominated in 5 categories! Vote at nplay.ca/vote and nplay.ca/voteyouth ... Thank you!
Today we're launching the Stage Stories Scrapbook - some of our favourite memories from the last 43 years, written by Players alumni. To kick things off, Valerie Russell is sharing the speech she gave at our 40th Anniversary gala in 2017. It's a compelling history of how we got to where we are and who was instrumental in creating, sustaining, and growing Northumberland's finest community theatre company. Val is one of the founding members of the Players, and currently serves ...as the Vice President of the Board of Directors, our Executive Producer, and the director for many of our shows. https://northumberlandplayers.ca/40-years-of-memories-vale/
The Canadian Music Theatre Project at Sheridan College is Canada’s first incubator for the development of new musical theatre works by Canadian and international composers, lyricists and book-writers and has created a permanent headquarters for the development of new musicals. The Festival of New Musicals is available for viewing this week. "Almost A Full Moon", "burden of proof" and "Living the Dream" are the 2020 projects being workshopped by Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance Class of 2021 for the festival. Each project will be available for online viewing until 9pm on October 25. https://northumberlandplayers.ca/the-canadian-music-theatr/
The Firehall Theatre looks pretty schnazzy in #LightUpLive red, don’t you think? #WeMissLiveTheatre

All tickets are being rebooked for the corresponding performance in the spring. We hope that you will consider keeping your ticket for now, rather than requesting a refund. Thank you for your patience and understanding!... https://northumberlandplayers.ca/honky-tonk-angels-resched/
We’ll be lighting up the Firehall Theatre tonight for #LightUpLive, but couldn’t resist lighting up one of our other venues. We miss you, @capitoltheatreporthope!
Our theatres may be dark right now, but tomorrow we will light up the night! Live events are a $100 billion industry in Canada and employ 1 million Canadians (not to mention all of the volunteers!), and much of this industry has been shuttered by COVID-19. An hour after sundown on September 22, the Firehall Theatre will be lit in red in recognition of the people who create, produce, and support live events across the country. We'd like to ask all of our volunteers, patrons, a...nd supporters to consider taking a "red selfie" tomorrow, posting it to social media, and tagging us and #LightUpLive. Visit https://lightuplive.ca to learn more about the Day of Visibility for the Live Event Community, check out the venues and stories of those participating, and take a spin by the Firehall tomorrow night! #LightUpLive #WeMissLiveEvents
