Just rolled into our shop - late model CLA250 with both headlights inoperative. Simple fix; needs a set of D3S lamps and we proceeded to replace the left side. That went ok, but right side had signs of a failed attempt of lamp replacement. Right side had an incorrect lamp D1S off brand and that likely took out the ballast. D1S and D3S are physically identical but electrically not the same. Voltages are drastically different. DIY or inexperienced shops take heed. It’s an expensive mistake.
