In honor of world food day we would like to share some statistics that are a cause for concern. In New Brunswick, 30% of children (K-grade5) and 54% of youth (grade 6-12) report not eating breakfast daily. Missing any meal directly affects a student’s ability to concentrate and increases the likelihood of behavioural and health challenges. In addition, 35% of New Brunswick’s children and 28% of youth are classified as overweight or obese. New Brunswick is one of only two pro...vinces not investing dedicated funding to school meal programs. Nourishing Minds NB is asking the provincial government to approve dedicated funding for school meal programs to help improve those statistics.
