Summer is just around the corner Adoptable Felix says it's so close he can taste it Felix was excited to get out and roll around in the grass today. This handsome fella loves spending time outside with people! He is seeking a foster to adopt home. His ideal spot would be a house as opposed to apartment or condo. He loves to show off his singing voice and although it is unique, neighbors sharing a wall would likely not agree.... A home with no other animals and children 16+ would be best To read more about Felix and to apply, please see the link below: https://www.novascotiaspca.ca/how-you-can-help/adoptions/

To say we are out-of-this-world proud would be an understatement. Elizabeth Murphy, our fearless leader, was honoured in Atlantic Business Magazine’s Top 50 CEOs for 2021. A lifelong animal-lover, Elizabeth is always thinking of new ways that the SPCA can help pets, support families and strengthen communities. Forever humble, Elizabeth praises SPCA staff, volunteers and the Board of Directors for all our positive progress. But we know we wouldn’t be who and what we are to...day if it wasn’t for her revolutionary leadership. Please join us in giving a big round of a-paws for Elizabeth Murphy. https://atlanticbusinessmagazine.ca/awar/top-50-ceo-awards/ P.S. Special shout out to the talented Liam Hennessey of Applehead Studio Photography for his wonder-fur headshots and Matt Corkum for the ‘paw’some award video. We had some pets participating so they had lots of kitties demanding treats and had to regularly clean up dog slobber from the camera lens. Thank you, Liam and Matt! #FeelGoodFriday #NSSPCA #Top50CEO #AtlanticBusinessMagazine

Available for Adoption We would like to introduce the sweetest kitty Andy! Staff are shocked this guy is still here, although we are not complaining because he is the most entertaining office buddy! You see, Andy is a big boy (about 21lbs) and he is much too big to hang out in a kennel. So he has been spending his days in the office with staff, helping with phone calls meowing at us for attention and most importantly - napping He was living in a home with another ...cat that he did not get along with and a new toddler that was just too much for him to adjust to at 13 years of age. We believe this may be due to a level of discomfort he was already experiencing. You see, our friend Andy has arthritis and is on medication - life long - called Gabapentin and Meloxyn. Since being on these, we have seen a HUGE change in his personality and we are so ready for him to go to his furever home He needs a family that is able to continue this care and also help him lose weight. Getting back to an ideal weight will help this guy tremendously in the long run, it is recommended he eats a metabolic diet to help with his weight loss journey. If you would like to apply for Andy, we ask that he goes to a home with older children that will respect his boundaries (10+). He has met other cats here and done well, so he could go to another home with a cat that likes other kitties and will respect his space. Andy is available for adoption from the Dartmouth SPCA, Interested in adopting? Read the next steps in the adoption process here: novascotiaspca.ca/adoptionprocess Please note we are not open for visitors so to meet me you must follow this online process to schedule an appointment

The Nova Scotia SPCA is looking for supporters to contribute to their annual bake sales for wagging tails! The SPCA shelters do not receive any government fundi...ng and with the difficulty of COVID-19, the SPCA is struggling now more than ever. Anyone can participate and pick a fundraiser of their choosing. Similar to a GoFundMe page, you can share your fundraising page and ask your supporters to donate to a cause you care about. This year, the top fundraiser/fundraising team will be crowned with naming the next litter of adorable SPCA kittens! If you're able to do so, donate with our team online at https://www.canadahelps.org/s/AeY88 before March 15th, 2021. #FurtherTogether

Adoption Update Sweet Oreo came to the Dartmouth SPCA at the beginning of December. He had some health concerns that staff at the shelter were able to treat and get Oreo back to 100%! He went home about a month later and has clearly settled in very well "Good afternoon,... We thought we would provide a little update on Oreo! We brought him home just over two weeks ago and he settled in very quickly. He already has a favourite toy and a few special nap spots. He’s also figured out where we keep his food and will let us know when it’s time for more. He’s always in the mood to play. We’re so happy we’ve adopted him ! Thank you!" Congratulations on finding your furever home Oreo!

Looking for love this Valentines Day? Look no further! Biscuit and Pumpkin were surrendered together. Pumpkin (darker) is 9 months old and Biscuit (lighter) is 4 years old. Pumpkin joined Biscuit when he lost his rabbit friend Since then they have been attached at the hip. These boys would love to go home to help you celebrate Valentines Day together! Plus, is there anything that warms your heart quite like watching a little guinea pig munch on some veggies while mak...ing their sweet little chirping noises? It's adorable! * adopting a guinea pig is (on average) a 4-8 year commitment. They are rewarding animals to care for and love. If you do not have experience owning pet guinea pigs, we have included an attachment below with daily care instructions * https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx If you are interested in providing these boys a loving furever home, please fill out the cat application on our website. At this time, we do not have a small animal form.
