O Allah, you are the Most Forgiving and the Most Merciful, forgive all my sinsthose that are big and small and those that I may have committed intentionally or unintentionally, and guide me so that I may never repeat them again. O Allah, purify my heart, fill it with love for you, and allow me to be among your most sincere worshippers. O Allah, increase my Iman (faith) and help me continue these sincere acts of Ibadah (worship) throughout my life. O Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weakness and laziness, from misery and cowardice, and being overcome by debt and overpowered by others. O Allah, grant me, my family, and friends with good health and bless us with the opportunity to witness another Ramadan and give us the opportunity to perform much better worship of You than I have done this year and in the past. O Allah, shower your strength and mercy to those who are being oppressed; ease their suffering and grant them victory over their oppressors. Ya Allah, You take care of the oppressed. Please help the oppressed in Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, India, Chechnya and other parts of the world. O Allah, guide oppressors to the right path and move the hearts of extremists from the harmful path. Ya Allah, give wisdom to our leaders; accept their sacrifice; bless them with more courage. Bismillah - In the name of Allah. Everything starts and ends in the name of Allah, our Creator. As 2020 comes to an end, we are all reflecting on the year that was. It was certainly a year full of blessings yet very testing.... We have been tested with loneliness, illness, watching others loose their battle with COVID, financial instability due to job losses, anxiety for the future but Alhamdulillah, we have survived. The worst of times are behind us as we reflect on our blessings- the blessing of time to sit and reflect, being blessed with the realization of what is important: our families, our health and the Akhirah. Let us all sit and reflect on the blessings that this crazy year has brought upon us. The blessings were seen when our essential workers risked their lives to provide healthcare to us, teach our children, care for our elders, stack grocery shelves to ensure we had necessary provisions for survival, deliver food from our favourite restaurants, and keep transit and other public services running. We learned to come together to find ways to work, gather and socialize in a virtual world. Let’s start off our 2021 with positivity Inshallah. According to Islam, one of our foremost duties is to be grateful to Allah (SET) for all of His blessings. We can describe three levels of thankfulness: 1) To realize and appreciate all blessings by and within the heart.... 2) To say thanks with the tongue. 3) To express gratitude by doing righteous deeds. In other words, the first level is the appreciativeness and gratefulness that we feel in our hearts. Then we fortify that thankfulness through our speech. And the third level is when we prove by our deeds that we are truly thankful to God Gratitude has been mentioned on over seventy different occasions in the Quran. Allah almighty praises thankful servants and promises them a pleasant reward. He also prohibits us of its opposite. We have so many things to be thankful for in our daily lives. Akhlaq is an Arabic term referring to practice virtue, morality and good manners and character in Islam. Prophet (SAW) said in his hadith about good character in these words: There is nothing weightier in the scales than good morals and manners. (Abu Dawood). Good Akhlaq also includes the sincerity, honesty, and truthfulness in doing the acts of worship like Charity, Salah, Quran recitation, and Tawbah.
